Positioned as a workhorse lens among the E-mount full-frame mirrorless systems from SONY, the SIGMA 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art is a versatile wide-angle-to-vertical-length zoom characterized by its constant f/2.8 maximum aperture. The bright design is suited to working in available lighting conditions and also allows greater control over depth of field. The optical design incorporates a series of low-dispersion and aspherical elements that greatly reduce a variety of aberrations in order to achieve high sharpness, greater clarity and improved color accuracy. Both Super Multi-Layer and Nano Porous Coatings have also been applied to enhance contrast and color rendering by suppressing lens flare and ghosting when working in strong lighting conditions.

Complementing the optical attributes, this lens also features a stepping AF motor, which produces fast, accurate and remarkably quiet autofocus performance. At the wide end of the zoom range, a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.9 is suited to working with close-up subjects and an 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality. In addition, a weather-sealed design benefits working in harsh environmental conditions.

• As part of the Art line within the Global Vision series from SIGMA, this lens is designed for truly remarkable optical performance and is ideal for creative and artistic applications.

• The standard zoom is designed for full-frame SONY E-mount mirrorless cameras, however, it can also be used with APS-C format models where it will provide an equivalent focal length range of 36-105mm.

• The constant f/2.8 maximum aperture is suitable for working in available light conditions and also provides greater control over depth of field when using shallow depth-of-field techniques.

• Six F low dispersion (FLD) and two special low dispersion (SLD) elements significantly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range for improved clarity and color accuracy.

• Three aspherical elements control spherical aberrations and distortion for increased sharpness and accurate rendering.

• Both Super Multi-Layer and Nano Porous Coatings have been applied to the lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and help produce contrast-rich, color-neutral images, even in backlit conditions.

• The built-in stepping motor performs fast and quiet autofocusing, which is further complemented by an AF algorithm optimized to produce smoother focusing performance.

• At the wide-angle end of the zoom range, a minimum focusing distance of 7.1" is possible with a maximum magnification of 1:2.9 to accommodate close-up subject work. At the telephoto end, the minimum focus distance is 1.25' at a maximum magnification of 1:4.5.

• The built-in AF-L button can be programmed to adjust various shooting settings and the lens also features a dedicated AF/MF switch and zoom lock switch to prevent accidental barrel extension.

• The rounded 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

• The brass bayonet offers increased mounting precision and rigidity and rubber sealing is incorporated into the mount design for dust and splash resistance.

• Excellent resolution in all image areas

The lens covers a focal length range of 24 to 70mm and has a bright, fixed aperture of F2.8 throughout, making it a favorite of users using SONY-E mount full-frame cameras. In particular, the high resolution of the lens, achieved through the design of 17 elements in 14 groups (ASP 2, HB 1, HR 3, ED 3), combines with the full-frame sensor of SONY to provide the highest corner-to-corner sharpness and contrast.

• Impressive background blur and exceptional bokeh at an aperture of F2.8

The AF 24-70mm F2.8 FE is capable of providing smooth background blur when working at apertures of F2.8. The extreme depth of field allows the subject to effectively stand out from the background, making it possible to capture unique images in which we are able to generate background compression. The 9 diaphragm blades create a smooth and natural bokeh effect.

• Enhanced ease of use with custom switch

The AF 24-70mm F2.8 FE lens features a custom switch so that the aperture can be adjusted using the focus ring on the lens itself. In addition, the lens station allows the lens mode to be set to suit the conditions of the environment in which the lens is located.

• Improved minimum focusing distance

The minimum focusing distance of 0.35m is extremely versatile, allowing the capture of scenes close to the photographer. It is also ideal for portrait shooting from an extreme wide-angle perspective, food photography and photography of narrow interior spaces.

• Special sealing protects against light rain, snow, and dust

The versatility of the AF 24-70 F2.8 FE has been enhanced by taking into account not only the design of the lens, but the shooting environment in which the user finds himself. It has a micro-stamped rubber focusing ring. Its airtight finish protects the lens against adverse weather conditions, such as light rain, snow and dust.

• Optimized features for video shooting:

Par-Focal: this function maintains constant focus on the subject as you move closer or further away from it. It is equipped with a function optimized for video recording based on cine zoom lenses.

Cinematic Video AF: enables proper control of the autofocus speed during video capture, reduces shake and stabilizes the recording by reducing the impact of possible vibrations.

Linear Manual Focus Control: when recording video using the manual focus mode, this feature provides greater comfort over the friction of the movement we emit on the focus ring.

Cine Kit: the Cine Kit is available from Samyang, which consists of a serrated focus ring, a follow focus device, and a tripod mount, allowing for quick system change. This kit makes the AF 24-70 F2.8 a particularly versatile lens for professional video shooting.
