Designed for creators who demand exceptional quality in both stills and video, the PANASONIC Lumix S1 II mirrorless camera delivers outstanding performance in a flexible full-frame body. With a new 24.1 MP partially stacked CMOS sensor, high-speed readout, advanced autofocus with AI and a full suite of professional video tools, the S1 II connects professional photo capture with film production. Whether in the studio, on location or shooting handheld, this hybrid camera is designed to adapt, inspire and deliver results.
Advanced sensor design for speed and accuracy
The S1 II is based on a new 24.1 MP partially stacked full-frame CMOS sensor, which offers faster readout and exceptional low-light performance. Combined with PANASONIC 's L2 engine and Dynamic Range Boost technology, the camera captures incredibly sharp, highly detailed images throughout its ISO range, while enabling high-resolution 96 MP tripod-free capture and support for 10-bit HEIF files for greater tonal flexibility in photographic workflows.
High-performance video with cinematic control
The S1 II is a robust video tool that offers a wide range of recording formats and frame rates, all with 10-bit depth and professional-grade color tools:
6K 30p (3:2) open gate for multi-aspect flexibility
5.1K 60p 4:3 for immersive documentary or social content
C4K and UHD 4K 120p for slow motion and fast action
4K video oversampled from the complete sensor reading
V-Log and V-Gamut with more than 13 steps of dynamic range
Real-time LUT application for customized in-camera looks
Dynamic range enhancement to improve highlight and shadow details
Full HDMI output and Frame.io Camera to Cloud support
These features enable hybrid creators to shoot with confidence in film, commercial and digital production environments, right out of the box.
Intelligent autofocus with subject recognition
The Lumix S1 II features a powerful hybrid phase AF system, enhanced with AI-based subject detection and tracking. It delivers fast and accurate autofocus even with unpredictable moving or partially hidden subjects.
Hybrid phase autofocus with 779 focus points
Real-time detection of humans, eyes, faces, animals, cars, motorcycles and more.
Reliable AF performance in low-light and low-contrast scenes
70 fps burst shooting without obscuration with continuous AF (AFC)
Reversibility of focus ring direction and linear/non-linear focus response control
This makes the S1 II a reliable tool for both still and motion capture where critical focus is paramount.
Designed for professional workflows
With 70 fps burst without blackout, 8-step 5-axis image stabilization and Active Image Stabilizer (Active IS), the S1 II is ideal for handheld photographers and hybrid creators working in a variety of genres. It features two card slots (CFexpress Type B + SD UHS-II), a high-resolution tilting and free-angle LCD screen, and a rugged body, tested to withstand temperatures down to -10°C (-4°F). Its compatibility with Lumix Lab, Lumix Flow and the Capture One plug-in extends its usefulness for professional post-production workflows and mobile connectivity.
Shared professional performance
Both models feature an enhanced phase detection hybrid autofocus system with precise eye, face and body recognition, as well as a new urban sports recognition mode that enables accurate capture of the most dynamic scenes. They also feature an 8-stop in-body stabilization system combined with clipping-free electronic distortion correction, ensuring stable images even on the move.
In terms of color science, both cameras are ARRI LogC3*1 compatible and offer support for ProRes RAW recording, as well as allowing the use of assist tools such as vectorscope, waveform monitor and false color. Both feature a 5.76 million-dot electronic viewfinder, a 1.84 million-dot tilting display and operating temperature resistance down to -10°C, making them suitable for all situations.
Both cameras allow transfer of settings via SD card, manage HEIF format images and easily integrate with platforms such as LUMIX Lab and Frame.io. Compatibility with Capture One, time synchronization via Bluetooth and connection to optional accessories such as the DMW-BG2 grip or the DMW-XLR2 audio adapter complete an ecosystem optimized for professional workflow.
In addition, they are UVC/UAC compliant, allowing them to be used as a webcam by simply connecting them to the computer via a USB-C cable, without the need for specific applications or software.
LUMIX S1II: Maximum power and performance for professionals
The LUMIX S1II is designed for videographers and photographers who work in the most demanding environments and seek the highest technical performance. It incorporates a new 24.1-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor with partially stacked architecture, enabling it to achieve higher readout and processing speeds compared to previous models. Thanks to this, it is capable of recording video in resolutions up to 5.8K at 60p and 4K at 120p, offering a range of options ideal for high-end productions. It also includes Open Gate recording at 5.1K 60p and 6K 30p at 10 bit, further expanding the creative possibilities for professional projects.
In terms of dynamic range, the camera can capture up to 15 steps in V-Log when using Dynamic Range Boost mode, providing more accurate gradation and richer tonal range in high-contrast scenes. In action photography, it enables continuous burst shooting at up to 70 frames per second with electronic shutter in SH/SH pre-burst mode, ensuring the capture of fleeting moments without visual interruptions.
In addition, the S1II integrates internal recording in Apple ProRes RAW HQ format and supports the ARRI LogC3 color profile, allowing it to be integrated into professional film workflows. These capabilities make it an ideal tool for creators working on demanding productions that require maximum control over the image.
