The ColorChecker Classic Grande Calibrite measures 530 x 375 millimeters and is widely used in films. It has a total of 24 color samples of which 6 are grayscale. It is mainly used to ensure that the camera is capturing colors in a pure way without losing details, it also helps when it comes to correcting errors using Adobe Photoshop.
The ColorChecker chart is arranged chromatically in 24 scientifically formulated colors that are the industry standard reference for more than 40 years. It is designed to make reproductions of real colors, so photographers and filmmakers can predict and control how the color will look in any lighting.
Each of the 24 patches found in the ColorChecker represent the actual color of natural objects, such as human skin tone, foliage, and blue sky. Since they illustrate the color of their counterparts and reflect light in the same way across all parts of the visible spectrum, the patches will match the colors of natural objects from the representative samples in any lighting and with any color reproduction process. Each solid patch is individually formulated to produce a rich, flat, pure color.
ColorChecker charts have been used by Color Perfectionists for decades to create custom DNG profiles in Adobe Lightroom® and Photoshop® workflows. You can also create ICC camera profiles for use in Capture One® (or other ICC compatible software) when you combine the ColorChecker with the Calibrite ColorChecker Camera Calibration software you will get the accurate color in the capture based on a specific lighting, combination of camera and lens during any photo shoot, saving valuable time in editing.
Taking advantage of the benefits of the ColorChecker card is easy. Simply include the ColorChecker in your photo or video capture and then later, in the studio, use it to compare, measure, and analyze differences in color reproduction in any color rendering system.
The ColorChecker can help you make global corrections based on accurate information. If you make a large number of images in which they all require the same color correction, you will already know that by editing some key photos, and applying their changes you will be able to see differences in the colors that you did not want to change. A colorchecker photo captured in the same lighting as your images will provide you with a benchmark, so you'll visualize exactly how the changes will affect the rest of your colors before applying them.
The standard card will help you avoid expensive mistakes and adjust the color with trial and error while editing your images or color grading.
