The Z150 is the first professional camcorder to feature a 1.0-type CMOS image sensor with stacked structure. This revolutionary sensor integration delivers twice the superior readout speed compared to conventional 1.0 sensors for incredible 120fps slow motion in Full HD and stunning 4K recording. The full pixel readout helps to harness the full potential of the large 1.0-type sensor, with no pixel binning or line skipping that can cause moiré effects.

In addition, the large 1.0-type sensor is also brighter, has a superior resolution and offers more bokeh with a shallower depth of field, allowing you to create beautiful cinematic images that will inspire and amaze your customers.

The Z150 represents a dramatic change in image capture within its class, with 4K QFHD (3840 x 2160) images employing the advanced 100 Mbps XAVC Long GOP codec for 4K image performance with true broadcast quality. It also supports 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) content with file-based Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) workflows, delivering truly stunning images with a wide color gamut.* To maximize image quality, the Z150 features an impressive 12x optical zoom lens that delivers high resolution and contrast across the entire image. SONY 's Advanced Sharp Image Zoom feature doubles magnification to 18x when shooting in 4K QFHD and 24x in HD, to take full advantage of the capabilities of the Z150's large, stacked 1.0-type sensor.

Doubling the read speed compared to conventional 1.0 sensors enables beautiful 5x slow-motion image capture at up to 120fps in Full HD and high-resolution 4K recording with full pixel readout without binning.

The Z150's large single 20-megapixel* 1.0-type sensor provides low noise and less blur by increasing the amount of light reaching the sensor, delivering sharp, stable images even in dark scenes with a minimum illumination of 1.7 lux**. The large size of the sensor also makes for stunning background blur (bokeh) that allows you to focus on what you want to show and blur the rest of the image.

As the need for HDR content continues to grow, internet video platforms and professionals producing business or event content are paying more attention to the added value of HDR. They need to deliver content quickly, without compromising the expression of the image or the quality of the content. To meet this demand, the PXW-Z150 offers Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) recording to facilitate file-based workflows, while providing HDR image quality. This simple workflow allows you to shoot, edit, and view HDR content in HLG, without spending a lot of time on post-production work and additional color grading.

Flexible 4K and Full HD recordings

The Z150 is designed to deliver true broadcast-quality performance for both 4K and Full HD productions by recording with the advanced 100Mbps XAVC Long GOP codec for flexible workflows and brilliant 4K QFHD images. XAVC Long's superior bit rate generates incredible images with more detail and less noise to deliver the number one 4K image quality in its class. For even greater flexibility in workflows, the Z150 allows you to switch between PAL and NTSC formats.

120fps continuous super slow motion

High frame rate shots can turn everyday actions into slow-motion choreography, and the Z150 delivers up to 120 frames per second (fps) in Full HD, giving you up to 5x slower camera footage. There is no need to sacrifice bit depth, and there is no "windowing" of the sensor. In addition, there is no crop factor and no loss of viewing angle.

Sony "G" lens with 24x maximum zoom

A high-quality 29-348mm wide-angle lens with 12x optical zoom makes it easy to capture even the largest landscape scene while delivering excellent clarity and sharpness, maximizing the performance of the Z150's large 1.0-type sensor and providing high levels of resolution and contrast from the center to the edges of the image. The option to zoom in on even the most distant scenes has been improved thanks to SONY's advanced sharp image zoom feature. When you've zoomed in to the maximum optical magnification level of 12x, By Pixel Super Resolution technology is capable of enlarging the image to 18x in 4K QFHD or 24x in HD, while preserving image quality.

Network Configuration for Greater Mobility

The Z150 has advanced networking capabilities that give you greater mobility in your work: FTP files directly from the camcorder or live streams of any event using built-in Wi-Fi features without the need for accessories. SONY 's unique QoS* technology dramatically improves the sharpness that can be achieved over a wireless connection and gives you better images, regardless of network limitations. Plus, you can control the PXW-Z150 remotely via smartphone or tablet, and even adjust settings such as focus, zoom, iris, white balance, record start/stop, and more via SONY's Content Browser Mobile** software.

High-Resolution Monitoring

The Z150 gives you accurate monitoring and low latency, no matter which recording mode you choose, thanks to its advanced 1,440,000-dot 0.39-type OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF), high contrast and wide viewing angle with large eyepiece and easily adjustable rotating 3.5-dot 1,550,000-dot LCD panel.

Compact and lightweight body

The Z150 features an ergonomic design to provide a lightweight, easy-to-use experience while recording. Three independent, manual lens rings allow for smooth, natural adjustment of focus, zoom, and iris control. The camcorder can also be used in fully automatic or fully manual mode for maximum creative control.

Two media slots for greater recording flexibility

To extend recording time and workflow flexibility, the Z150 is equipped with two memory card slots and is compatible with SDXC and SDHC cards. Relay mode allows recording to automatically switch from the first to the second memory card when the first memory card is full, while simultaneous mode makes it possible to record simultaneously to both memory cards (for example, to create an immediate backup version).

Multi-Interface Shoe

The Z150 uses SONY's flexible Multi-Interface (MI) shoe, providing power, signal connections, and combined on/off to compatible SONY accessories. For example, you can connect and control SONY wireless microphone systems such as the UWP-D11 or UWP-D12, or attach the HVL-LBPC* light.

Wide range of connections, including 3G-SDI

You don't have to worry about adapters, as the Z150 offers a wide variety of built-in connection options, including 3G-SDI, HDMI, Multi/Micro USB, XLR pro, REMOTE, and composite (RCA) audio terminals. The supplied SONY mounting bracket adapter kit gives you greater flexibility for mounting accessories.
