Distinguished by improved processing and improved imaging capabilities, PENTAX 's K-1 Mark II is the follow-up to its first full-frame DSLR. Rotating around a 36.4MP CMOS sensor and PRIME IV image processor, the camera is capable of producing high-resolution still images up to 4.4fps along with Full HD video recording. The 14-bit image processor has been updated with an acceleration unit developed by RICOH, which helps reduce noise and increases clarity and color accuracy, as well as increasing the sensitivity range up to ISO 819200 for working in low-light conditions. Also contributing to improved image quality is the 5-axis vibration reduction system, which minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper manual shooting. This image stabilization system also enables Pixel Shift Resolution II, which takes advantage of sensor movement to record sequential frames and merge them for higher resolution and color detail. The Dynamic Pixel Shift Resolution solution also benefits from this technology, however, it allows you to get similar results even when you are working with the handheld.
In addition to its distinct image assets, the K-1 Mark II is also characterized by its unique physical design. A stainless steel and magnesium alloy body is especially robust and its extensive climate sealing makes this chamber suitable for use in harsh climates and in cold climates. The large pentaprism optical viewfinder offers 100% frame coverage and great magnification of 0.7x, and the 3.2" and 1.04m dot rear LCD has a unique cross-tilt design to facilitate positioning to work at a variety of angles. Wi-Fi is available for wireless remote control and image transfer, and the built-in GPS allows you to geotag your images to track your photos on an interactive map.
36.4MP full-frame CMOS sensor
The K-1 Mark II delivers high-quality images using an advanced 36.4MP CMOS sensor that is designed to create detailed images with minimal noise. To ensure maximum resolution, the sensor lacks an anti-aliasing or optical low-pass filter, although this will cause a higher probability of aliasing and muaré. For situations at risk from these artifacts, users can take advantage of an AA Filter Simulator feature, which slightly moves the sensor to mimic the effects of a physical filter.
PRIME IV with accelerator unit
Working in conjunction with the image sensor is an updated 14-bit PRIME IV processing engine, which makes use of an accelerator unit developed by RICOH to effectively suppress noise and reproduce fine details with high accuracy, even with high sensitivity values. This image processor and The Accelerator Unit also contribute to a noticeable increase in sensitivity, with a superior setting of ISO 819200 available, along with 4.4fps continuous shooting, Full HD 1080p video recording, and a variety of other processing-intensive tasks, such as Pixel Shift Resolution and AstroTracer.
Vibration reduction in the 5-axis body
A staple of DSLRs PENTAX, the K-1 Mark II is equipped with a 5-axis vibration reduction system that can counteract the effects of camera movement in up to 5 stops. This system has been optimized for the full-frame sensor and can account for tilt, pitch and roll, as well as vertical and horizontal movement of the camera. In addition, due to the stabilization that is incorporated into the camera body, it works with each K-mount lens.

Pentax takes advantage of the available movement of the sensor to develop additional features, such as the updated configuration of Pixel Shift Resolution II. This mode shifts the sensor to capture full-color data on each pixel by composing four shots. This gives exceptional clarity, reduces noise and increases the effective resolution to 42MP. In addition, the K-1 Mark II also has dynamic pixel shift resolution, which allows this feature to be used even when taking a handheld.

Another feature is the Image Composition Assistant feature, which allows you to move the sensor up/down and left/right, as well as rotate it slightly. This allows users to easily adjust their composition without needing to move their camera and can be useful for delicately balanced tripod work.

  • SAFOX 12 AF System

The SAFOX 12 AF system is optimized for the full-frame image sensor and has a total of 33 AF points, of which 25 are crossed and three f/2.8 luminance sensors to maximize performance in all lighting conditions. The system can operate up to -3 EVs using the 25 central sensors and will benefit work in dark scenes as well as extreme backlight conditions.

  • Full HD 1080p video recording

In addition to standard still image capture, the K-1 Mark II is capable of Full HD video up to 30p or 60i using H.264 compression. This allows photographers to add high-resolution motion capture to their arsenal without needing to load another camera. In addition, when shooting in HD 720p, users can shoot up to 60p. In addition, the camera is NTSC/PAL switchable and is equipped with headphone and microphone jacks for high-quality audio compatibility.

  • Weather and dust resistant with tilted LCD display

Durability has always been one of the best suits in PENTAX, and the K-1 Mark II is no exception with a stainless steel chassis covered with a magnesium alloy housing that is sturdy and lightweight. In addition, the camera is sealed in 87 places to ensure that there is no rain or dust that can remove the camera. The camera is designed to handle sub-zero temperatures as well, with a rating of up to 14°F.

The K-1 Mark II is equipped with two SDXC card slots. These can be configured to back up, split the storage of JPEG files and raw files, or overflow when the card is full 1. Also on the body users will find a variety of dials and buttons that will allow a quick and intuitive adjustment of the settings. Along with this, there are LED-lit body dots on the lens holder, card slots, the back of the LCD screen, and on the cable switch terminal that will help you operate the camera in low light.

A unique design feature of the K-1 Mark II is the use of a 3.2" 1.04m-dot cross-tilt LCD display. This ensures that the display remains aligned with the optical center of the camera while allowing for 44° tilt down and 90° both up and 35° left and right. The camera also has settings to quickly adjust screen brightness to account for a variety of shooting environments.

  • GPS, compass and AstroTracer

With the built-in GPS, shooters can automatically track your movement and position while working with the data automatically written to the image file. It can record location, orientation direction, and coordinated universal time, while also allowing the use of a digital compass function. Along with this, it can work with the Shake Reduction mechanism to activate the AstroTracer function. This system obtains location and position data from the camera to calculate the movement of stars in the sky. The sensor then synchronizes with motion to minimize the capture of star trails with prolonged exposures.

  • Other camera features

-The real-time scene analysis system has been updated to observe exposure, color, faces, movement and more to automatically select the appropriate exposure settings for optimal image capture.

-Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity allows users to connect directly to the camera using a mobile device for image transfer and remote camera control.

-Record raw DNG, PENTAX or JPEG images with selectable quality and resolutions.

-APS-C crop mode will allow full compatibility with existing APS-C format lenses.

-Aperture Priority and Shutter Speed (TAv) mode allows you to manually select the aperture and shutter speed while leaving the ISO selection to the camera.

-The optional adapter allows users to mount medium format 645 series lenses in K-1.

-The Diffraction Correction function will explain diffraction in small apertures and improve image sharpness.

-Maximum focus in video mode will help you with manual focus.

f2.8 Pentax

Consisting of 17 elements in 12 groups, the newly designed optics have three ED optical elements (extra low dispersion), an aspherical optical element of anomalous dispersion glass and three aspherical optical elements to offer response to the extreme resolution image sensors. By maintaining sufficient light levels even at the edges of the image field and compensating for various aberrations to a minimum, it provides a high MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) and delivers images rich in contrast and resolution throughout the image field. When mounted on a camera body PENTAX current digital K uses only the central area of the image circle, so it provides high-resolution images with uniform detail throughout the image field.
