  Image Stabilizer with automatic detection of sweep motion

  To combat the effects of camera movement, the EF-S 55-250MM F/4-5.6 IS II incorporates CANON's 4-stop image stabilization technology. This technology allows shutter speeds to be used up to 4 times slower, without a noticeable increase in blurring due to image movement. Automatic detection of camera sweep motion disables the Image Stabilizer in both the horizontal and vertical direction when following moving subjects.

  UD Lens

  The EF-S 55-250MM F/4-5.6 IS II telephoto lens uses a CANON UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) lens to suppress the effects of secondary chromatic aberrations, so that it can capture sharp and clear, high contrast images, without color distortions at the edges, along the entire focal range of the zoom.

  Super Spectra Coatings

  CANON's Super Spectra coatings combat stray lights and the optical veil, absorbing light that could be reflected by both the digital cameras' sensors and the lens' internal optical elements. Super Spectra coatings also help ensure accurate color balance, as well as crisp, high-contrast results.

  Diaphragm with circular aperture

  For photographs captured with large apertures, the lens has a circular aperture diaphragm that creates a smooth and uniform blurring effect, which is ideal for enhancing subjects in front of a background that might otherwise distract attention.

  Lead-free glass
