The Q2 Monochrom LEICA features an exclusively developed 47.3-megapixel full-frame monochrome sensor that captures both highly detailed still images and 4K video with ISO sensitivities up to 100,000 and, together with its LEICA Summilux 28mm f/1.7 ASPH lens. ensures exceptional image performance. The fast initial aperture of f/1.7 ensures optimal image quality even in the most difficult lighting situations.

The practical lock for the choice of manual or autofocus and the simple switch to macro mode, with a focusing distance close to 17 cm, offer the greatest possible creative freedom in the composition of exceptional black and white images.

Thanks to the extension of the integrated digital zoom function up to 75 mm, users now enjoy even greater flexibility to compose their photographs. In addition to the uncut 28mm focal length of the camera lens, a crop factor can be chosen to simulate exposures made with focal lengths of 35, 50 or 75 millimeters. The selected crop is displayed as a bright line frame in the viewfinder and in the back display panel. The cropped image of the selected frame is saved in JPEG format with correspondingly reduced resolutions of 47.3, 30, 14.7 or 6.6 megapixels. The uncropped image is always saved simultaneously as a DNG file with the full resolution of 47.3 megapixels.

The Q2 Monochrom LEICA also features an OLED viewfinder with a resolution of 3.68 megapixels. The high resolution provides full control over the subject at all times and also leads to a considerable improvement in image depth and higher contrast. Unlike LCD technology, where only entire sectors of the display image can be darkened, the brightness of each individual pixel of the Q2's viewfinder is adapted. Despite the high resolution, the power consumption is still low. The viewfinder activates as soon as the camera approaches the eye and displays the subject reliably and without any noticeable delay at all times.

The Q2 Monochrom LEICA 's autofocus system precisely focuses on the object in less than 0.15 seconds, making it one of the fastest cameras in its class. Continuous improvements to the Maestro family's processor have enabled a higher sequential shooting speed with an impressive 10 frames per second at full resolution of 47.3 MP, ensuring that life's truly wonderful moments will never be missed. The range of creative options has been further expanded with the new video mode with a resolution of 4K. Brilliant video recordings can be made in black and white with 3840 x 2160 pixels and frame rates of 30 or 24 fps or, alternatively, in the well-known full HD format with 120, 60, 30 or 24 frames per second. In combination with the LEICA PHOTOS app, the camera's built-in Wi-Fi module allows you to quickly and easily share images via social media, change numerous camera settings from a smartphone, or even remotely control the Q2 Monochrom LEICA shutter release.
