The optical system features a combination of four ED lenses to suppress color loss, two Super HR lenses and two HR lenses for bright, clear image performance to the edges of the image throughout the zoom range. ZERO coating reduces ghosts and eruptions even in poor conditions, such as backlit scenes.

The rear focus system of the M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm handles the lightweight focusing lenses for fast, high-precision AF performance. This lens is also equipped with a focus clutch and a focus limiter. It allows to change the AF operating range between three levels according to the focusing distance for fast focusing and comfortable shooting even in the super telephoto range. In addition, in-lens image stabilization with up to 3 stops of shutter speed compensation enables manual capture of super telephoto lenses.

The extensive hermetic seal throughout the lens body provides the same high level of dust, splash and freeze proof performance as the M.Zuiko PRO series for added peace of mind when shooting in any environmental condition.
