Designed for speed, the NIKON AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II is a medium-fast telephoto lens suitable for photographing portraits, wildlife, sports and other fast-moving subjects. Characterized by its bright maximum aperture of f/2, this lens has adequate performance in low-light conditions and is also ideal for the use of shallow depth of field and selective focusing techniques. Its sophisticated optical design employs a Super ED element along with three additional extra-low dispersion elements to greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and color stripe for greater clarity. Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings are also used to control flares and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity. Complementing the optics is a Silent Wave Motor, which offers fast and accurate autofocus, and VR II image stabilization compensates for up to three stops of camera motion.

  • Medium telephoto is designed for F-mount cameras in FX format, however, it can also be used with DX models where it will provide an equivalent focal length of 300mm.
  • The impressively bright f/2 maximum aperture excels in difficult lighting conditions and also allows extensive control over depth of field to isolate subjects using selective focus techniques.
  • A Super ED element and three extra low dispersion elements greatly reduce color stripes and chromatic aberrations to produce greater clarity and color accuracy.
  • Both a Nano Crystal layer and a Super Integrated layer have been applied to individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flares, and ghosting to improve contrast and color accuracy when working in bright lighting conditions.
  • The silent wave motor offers fast, quiet and accurate autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. An internal focus design is also used, where only groups of internal lenses move during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use, and to promote faster focusing speeds.
  • VR II (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization helps minimize the appearance of camera vibration in three stops to benefit handheld in difficult lighting conditions.
  • The benefits of the removable rotating tripod collar work with the lens on a tripod or monopod.
  • The rounded nine-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasant focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focusing techniques.
