The AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f1.8G NIKON Lens is a compact FX format fast primary medium telephoto lens. Although optimized for FX format DSLR cameras, the lens is equally adept at serving any DSLR NIKON DX format. The combination of its mid-range telephoto design and a fast f/1.8 aperture make it an excellent choice for shooting the two still images and high-definition video in low-light scenarios. Available light handles will love the effect wide when making intimate portraits; focus subjects will remain strong, while distracting backgrounds will melt into a lack of pleasant soft definition. When mounted on a DX-format DSLR camera, this first 85mm offers an apparent focal length of about 127mm. The lens features Silent Wave Motor (AFS) and Internal Focus technology for fast and quiet autofocus that will not alter the length of the lens, thus preserving the working distance throughout the focus range. The silent wave motor uses ultrasonic vibrations (inaudible) instead of a gear system to focus the lens, offering wonderfully smooth, quiet and precise autofocus operation. When precision focus manual is required, just rotate the focus ring of the lens. The M/A mode switch offers seamless override of the AF system with virtually no lag at all!
