The lens PENTAX 21mm A HD ED Limited DC is a wide-angle with an f2.4 brightness for the manufacturer's FF cameras, so it is optimized to get the most out of a sensor. As well as its optical construction with four ED glass elements, one Super ED and a revolutionary large aperture negative meniscus optical element, a biconvex aespherical glass mold element and a high refraction crystal element not only minimizes aberrations and reduces the dimensions of the lens. Ensure spectacular sharpness even when working in ultra-close shots.

The main features of the lens PENTAX 21mm
The 21-millimeter ultra-wide focal length, which was not available until now in the Limited optics catalog for full format, adds a new perspective to this saga.
True to the conceptual design of the Limited range, this optic has been developed to provide a distinctive visual expression. When used to capture distant motifs such as a landscape it ensures a solid and uniform ability to reproduce throughout the image field. By closing the aperture, it delivers sharp, clear, high-resolution images even at the edges.
It is also, due to its optical characteristics, an excellent choice for close-ups. With a very open aperture, this lens provides a smooth bokeh effect in the background of the image and sharp focus for the foreground subject. This allows you to highlight it from the blurred background, with the exaggerated perspective so typical offered by ultra-angular optics.
In addition, the minimum focusing distance of 18 centimeters allows you to create a wide variety of visual expressions.
Sleek and rugged design
To achieve a more attractive design, the optic barrel, sunshade and lid have been meticulously machined from high-grade aluminium, a feature common to the Limited series lenses.
On the other hand, this optic presents a construction suitable for adverse weather environments. Paired with a PENTAX SLR camera equipped with these same weather resistance features, it is possible to enjoy a sealed and highly reliable system that works excellently even in the most demanding situations, such as in the rain, in fog or in places prone to splashes of water.
This lens incorporates four optical elements of ED glass and a Super ED glass (extra-low dispersion in both cases) to minimize chromatic aberration and prevent color bleeding not only in the focus area, but also in the out-of-focus areas.
It also has a large aperture negative meniscus optical element, a biconvex aspherical glass mold element and a high refractive crystal element in the first group of lenses to reduce the overall size despite its wide-angle optical condition. On the other hand, it offers exceptional performance to obtain sharp images without blurriness even in the peripheral areas of the frame.
The optics also feature the original HD (high definition) coating of PENTAX. Compared to conventional multilayer coatings, this high-quality coating reduces the average reflectance in the visible spectrum to less than 50%, minimizing flare and ghosting even in lighting conditions as demanding as a backlight.
The new optics are equipped with a KAF4 mount and incorporate an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism to ensure the high precision of exposure control when used in combination with compatible DSLR cameras, specifically with the K-3, K-3 II, K-3 Mark III, K-1, K-1 Mark II, KP, K-70, K-50, K-S2 and K-S1 (it is necessary to update the firmware to the latest version in some cases).
This ensures smooth video recording in locations prone to significant brightness changes, such as a stadium with rapid variations in lighting or a forest where the sun's rays creep in.
Other features of the new HD PENTAX-D FA 21mm f2.4 ED Limited DC WR are the SP coating of the front lens, the focus motor that provides a smooth and quiet AF mechanism, the eight-blade circular diaphragm for beautiful bokeh and the Quick Shift Focus System function to quickly switch from autofocus to manual when the subject is in focus.
