For a long time, the secret to capturing the perfect image above/below (Over/Under), known to professional surf photographers, was to take the photographs with the camera at chest height. The PD-16 is a 16" dome port for limited launch, you can perform a perfect Over/Under.

Up/Down or Over/Under are some of the most sought-after images when it comes to underwater photography. They combine the scene above the water level with the view below the surface of the water to create an image that is not possible to see with the naked eye. They are images that connect the terrestrial world with the marine environment from a perspective that can only be seen through the use of specialized equipment.

In fact, there are many reasons why this specialized equipment should be used, but there are 2 main reasons why large dome ports are used to create Over/Under images: the magnification caused by this dome and the radius of action.

The curved surface of a dome port counteracts with the magnifying effect that occurs to light when it passes through water. When viewed through a flat surface (such as your snorkel mask or swimming goggles), underwater subjects will appear larger than they really are. This isn't a problem when your entire composition is underwater, but when you want to see a subject above and below the surface, things start to get weird...

The large 16-inch dome radius also adds more distance between the camera lens and the water surface. This distance allows the lens to easily see above and below the water plane and also provides a smaller water line in its image that is more pleasing to the eye.

It is possible to use a wide variety of lenses and focal lengths in combination with the PD-16 dome port." From fish eyes to 50, it's almost possible to place any wide-angle lens on the PD-16.
