Designed for videographers and action photographers, the Fujifilm X-T3 Black is a versatile mirrorless camera characterized by high-speed performance, more than capable images and multimedia flexibility. Rotating around a newly developed image processor and processor, high-resolution still images and 4K video can be recorded, while an apt autofocus system delivers fast and accurate focusing performance. The sensor, a 26.1MP APS-C-format X-Trans CMOS 4, features a backlit design, to promote higher image quality throughout the sensitivity range, along with a 2.16m expansive point phase detection autofocus system for fast, accurate AF performance and subject tracking. Complementing the image and focus is the X-Processor 4, which uses four CPUs for faster image processing, as well as continuous shooting up to 11fps and 10-bit 4K60p internal video recording.

Like previous X-T cameras, the X-T3 retains its classic-inspired look and prominent touch controls, and adds a new OLED electronic viewfinder design with a resolution of 3.69m dots and a high magnification of 0.75x. Conversely, a 3.2" and 1.04m rear LCD monitor can also be used for live viewing and playback of larger images. In addition, the X-T3 also has built-in Bluetooth for wireless sharing and control, and the magnesium alloy body is completely weather-sealed to work in harsh weather conditions.

26.1MP APS-C X-Trans BSI CMOS 4 Sensor and X-Processor 4

Revolving around a newly developed sensor, the X-T3 features a 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with APS-C format, which has a backlit design to provide uniform tonal reproduction, improved low-light performance, and a low-nativity ISO 160 adjustment. As an X-Trans sensor, it still uses the array of randomized pixels, which provides a high degree of image quality and sharpness due to the omission of a low-pass optical filter. Compared to conventional pixel patterns, the X-Trans design more closely mimics the organic nature of film in order to produce nuanced colors and tonal transitions, while reducing muaré and aliasing.

The sensor design also includes an extended phase detection autofocus system, which now features an impressive 2,160,000 dots covering almost the entire sensor area. This AF system offers faster and more accurate focusing performance along with low-light sensitivity up to EV-3. Complementing the imaging and focus capabilities, an updated X-Processor 4 is also introduced, and it offers faster focus response for subject tracking and also supports Face and Eye Detection AF when working in AF-C mode and when recording video.

The X-Processor 4 also uses four CPU units for faster image processing and benefits overall performance. Fast continuous shots can be taken, up to 11 fps with a mechanical shutter or 30 fps with an electronic shutter and 1.25x cropping, and internal 4K60 UHD video recording with 10-bit output is also supported.

UHD and DCI 4K video recording

More than a fixed camera, the X-T3 offers a tantalizing array of video capabilities, including internal 4K60p UHD video recording at 4:2:0 10-bit, and 4K60p 4:2:2 10-bit via HDMI output. both up to 400 Mb / s. DCI 4K30 and Full HD 1080p120 recording is also possible, and video files can be saved using MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 or HEVC/H.265 compressions. The quad-CPU X-Processor 4 processor, which greatly benefits overall video performance, enables fast read speeds of 17ms when recording 4K60 video, helping to reduce shutter distortion when shooting moving subjects.

In addition to the supported 10-bit color depth, the X-T3 also includes the F-Log gamma setting, which provides a flat image for use in advanced color grading software during editing. This maximizes the potential dynamic range in difficult scenes and image adjustments can also be made to highlight hue, shade tone, color, and sharpness. When working in F-Log, an updated noise reduction algorithm is available along with noise reduction between 4K frames, and the minimum sensitivity has been reduced to ISO 640 to suit work across a wider range of scene types.

In addition, the camera features a 3.5mm microphone jack for more advanced audio solutions. Users looking for a headphone jack will find one in the optional Vertical Power Grip.

Film simulation and grain effect modes

Leveraging Fujifilm's vast history in traditional film-based photography, the X-T3 integrates several film simulation modes. These modes mimic the look and feel of some of Fujifilm's classic film types, including Eterna, which copies the look of cinematic film with understated colors and richer shades of shadows; Acros, which offers soft tones, deep blacks and fine details; and Classic Chrome, which is designed to offer muted tones and deep color reproduction, similar to that of an old-fashioned slide movie. Several other effects are also available for monochrome and color shooting. In addition to simulating specific film types, a grain effect mode is also available to replicate the look of old film photos with an organic texture appearance, which is especially noticeable when printing.
