At the 28 mm wide-angle end, the MOD (minimum blur distance) is 0.19 m (7.5 inches), achieving a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.1. This performance, combined with the fast F2.8 aperture, allows users to zoom in so that the subject appears in the foreground and at the same time shows a very beautiful bokeh in the background. This close-up shooting is also noticeable at the telephoto end, with a 0.8m (31.5-inch) MOD and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.8. Users can capture stunning images with exceptional bokeh and create exceptional compositions.

The AF unit incorporates a sensor that accurately detects the position of the lens, while the RXD motor unit offers optimized AF control. This achieves very fast and accurate autofocus operation, allowing users to maintain fast and sharp focus on continuously moving subjects or when shooting videos. This extremely quiet approach is a major advantage because it removes all sounds from the AF during video recording. In addition, the compact configuration of the RXD focusing system contributes to the reduction of size and weight in the construction of the lens.

The 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 zoom is included in TAMRON 's strategy of creating a series of lenses for full-frame mirrorless cameras to take advantage of the features of compact camera bodies.
