More Info about FUJI GFX 100

GFX100 mirrorless digital camera with a newly developed 55-megapixel "55mm" large-format (hereinafter "55 mmLF") sensor. The new camera will be the flagship model of the GFX system of mirrorless digital cameras, which have received praise from professional photographers and photography enthusiasts for the use of a 43.8mm x 32.9mm 55mmLF sensor, which is about 1.7 times larger than a 35mm. 'Full frame' sensor.
The GFX100 features a "phase detection pixel backlit sensor," the first of its kind for image sensors larger than the 35mm full-frame format. The autofocus speed is up to twice as fast as on previous GFX models (when using the GF63mmF2.8 lens), while also offering tracking AF on a moving subject, as well as more accurate continuous AF. Another world-new for full-frame format cameras over 35mm is In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), which offers "five-axis image stabilization" of up to 5.5 stops*1 As a result, ultra-high resolution photography can be achieved by shooting by hand. Video capability has also been greatly improved over the current GFX 50S and GFX 50R models, to become the world's first mirrorless digital camera with an image sensor of this size or superior to offer 4K30p (10-bit 4:2:2) video recording capability.
With these three "world's first" features, the GFX100 is a camera of unprecedented innovation and versatility, which fulfills the purpose of "capturing and recording precious moments that will never be repeated" with the highest possible image quality in a mirrorless camera.

Main features

(1) 102MP 55mmLF image sensor
・ The new sensor, developed specifically for this camera, measures 55 mm diagonally and features an effective pixel count of approx. 102 million. When combined with the fourth-generation "X-Processor 4" processor, it delivers the highest level of image quality in the world with exceptional color reproduction unique to FUJIFILM and ultra-sharp "FUJINON GF lenses".
Sensor The sensor has 3.76 million pixels of phase detection across the entire surface (approximately 100% coverage), enabling fast and accurate AF, regardless of where a subject is located within the frame. This sets a whole new standard in the dynamic mobility of large-format mirrorless digital cameras.
・ The "backlit" structure of the sensor receives a greater amount of light accurately while achieving better noise performance. The sensor has less noise, greater dynamic range and a faster reading despite the higher number of pixels.

(2) The world's first five-axis IBIS in a camera with an image sensor larger than the 35mm format
・ Generally speaking, the higher the pixel count that an image sensor has, the greater the chance that the camera will move. To avoid this threat to image quality, FUJIFILM has designed an IBIS system specifically for the new 102MP 55mmLF sensor that provides up to 5.5 stops of image stabilization (when using the GF63mmF2.8 R WR).
The IBIS sensor shift mechanism ensures that images are stabilized not only against tilt and turn movements (up/down and right/left) but also against scrolling (horizontal) and rotating (rotation) movements.
・ The entire shutter unit is suspended with four springs to minimize the effect of shutter discharge. This drastically expands the scope of situations where you can take pictures with the GFX100 and enjoy exceptionally high resolution to push the boundaries of photography.

(3) The world's first 4K30p video recording capability among consumer mirrorless digital cameras
With a larger sensor than the 35mm format.

The combination of the new high-speed reading image sensor and the fourth-generation high-performance "X-Processor 4" engine has given the camera the ability to record 4K30p video (10-bit 4:2:2 externally and 10-bit 4:2:0 internally), one of the first large-format mirrorless digital cameras for consumers to carry a larger sensor than the 35mm format.
・ When the standard digital cinema format (17:9) is selected, the GFX100 records video with a sensor area measuring 43.8mm (W) x 23.19mm (H) and 49.56mm diagonally. This is bigger than many high-end cinema cameras in recent years, making it easier than ever to record high-quality videos with shallow depth of field, wide tonal range, and high ISO sensitivity. The GFX100 produces images with more detailed textures while reproducing three-dimensional definitions and the same atmosphere of the scene.

・ The GFX100 uses oversampling with data equivalent to approx. 50.5 megapixels to render video. It also supports the highly efficient H.265/HEVC codec, as well as the "F-Log", which has a gamma curve with a wide dynamic range and the "Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG)" to record HDR images with ease. The GFX100 is also the first model in the GFX system to incorporate the "ETERNA" cinema film simulation mode, which offers optimal solutions that reflect the videographer's intentions and facilitate a variety of creative expressions.

(4) Dust-resistant, weatherproof, lightweight and highly robust magnesium alloy body with integrated vertical grip
・ Despite having a sensor that is 1.7 times larger than a 35mm full-frame sensor, the body of the GFX100 is equivalent to that of a 35mm full-frame DSLR camera in dimensions (156.2mm (W) x 163.6mm (H) x 102.9mm (D), which measures 48.9mm in the thinnest part) and weight (approx. 1400g, including two batteries, memory card and EVF).
・ The GFX100 is the first FUJIFILM mirrorless digital camera to feature an integrated vertical grip. This has led to a thinner form factor that is comfortable to hold in the hand, despite having IBIS and two batteries in the body.
・ To maximize the capabilities of the 102MP image sensor, the "central imaging unit" of the GFX100, consisting of the lens mount, image stabilization mechanism, and image sensor, is as isolated as possible from the main body panels. This "dual structure" design ensures a high level of accuracy and robustness while minimizing any loss in image quality caused by external stress on the body.
Sealing Weather sealing is applied to 95 locations throughout the chamber body to achieve an advanced level of dust and moisture resistance, so that the chamber maintains reliable operation even in the most difficult conditions.

(5) Improved operability and versatile information displays
・ The GFX100 features a 1.80-inch secondary LCD monitor on the superior panel and a 2.05-inch secondary monitor on the back panel for even more versatile information display. They display EXIF data, histogram, and camera settings in large text. Various information can be assigned to each of the monitors (EVF, back panel LCD screens and superior panel sub LCD display) to make the viewfinder less crowded and easier to use. This ensures clear visibility of the information when a still shot is taken or when the camera must be placed in a position that makes it difficult to see the viewfinder or any of the monitors. In addition, for users who prefer dial-based operations, a feature of previous GFX cameras, the GFX100 has a "Virtual Dial Mode", which displays the image of a dial on the panel's secondary LCD monitor superior that can be rotated and adjusted with the front. and recheck the commands.
・ The buttons and levers for camera operation have been reduced to a minimum for simple and easy-to-understand handling, while ensuring that you can hold the camera comfortably in your hand. On the left side of the camera body is the drive mode dial, which allows instant switching between still image, video and multi-exposure modes. You can store the camera settings for each of the modes (exposure settings, white balance, film simulation, etc.). Even when you need to capture still images and videos in a single session, only a single movement of the dial is required to retrieve your preferred camera settings.

(6) 5.76 million EVF points with 100% coverage and 2.36 million dots with tilt 3.2-inch LCD screen
・ The GFX100 inherits the popular detachable EVF system from the GFX 50S that can be adjusted to various angles when using the EVF-TL1 tilt adapter. The world's highest resolution 5.76 million dot OLED panel has been used to develop the GFX100 high-definition EVF unit. The viewfinder has a magnification of 0.86x and contains five optical glass elements, including aspherical elements, and has been designed specifically for the 102MP sensor, which requires extreme focusing accuracy.
・ The EVF can be set to the mode of "Frame Rate Priority", "Resolution Priority" or "AF Speed Priority" depending on the characteristics of the subject and the needs of the photographer.
・ The rear panel monitor uses a 3.2-inch, 2.36-million-dot LCD touchscreen that can be tilted in three directions.

(7) High-speed, high-precision phase detection AF that sets a new standard for large format cameras with a sensor larger than 35mm format
・ The GFX100 is the first model of the GFX system to use our phase detection AF algorithm, adopted from the fourth generation of X Series cameras (X-T3 and X-T30), and which is praised for its accuracy and speed. The algorithm makes full use of 3.76 million phase detection pixels, placed throughout the sensor, to set a new standard in AF speed and accuracy for 55mmLF cameras performing standard "single point" AF, as well as "Zone" and "Wide Tracking" AF The effect is particularly noticeable when using main lenses with a heavy set of focus lens elements, achieving a speed improvement of up to 210% over the conventional contrast AF system.

・ At the same time, the GFX100 features a dramatic improvement in the accuracy of face and eye detection AF, which has become an essential feature for fashion and portrait photographers. The Face Detection feature now works at a greater shooting distance, and shows significant improvement in tracking a person's side profile or when a person moves erratically within the frame, while maintaining focus on a subject going after an obstacle.

(8) Unique color reproduction technology, developed throughout our history in photographic film to deliver amazing quality in still images
Combination The combination of the newly developed image sensor and the fourth-generation "X-Processor 4" processing engine means that the camera also supports the "16-bit RAW" mode, requested by many professional photographers. The GFX100 also supports 16-bit TIFF in camera file conversion. The ultra-high resolution of 100 MP+ and the rich color and tonal reproduction found in our "Film Simulation" modes, significantly increases the tolerance to the further processing of photographic data and meets the diverse needs of professional photographers.
・ The GFX100 also features a "Soft Skin Effect" feature, which automatically softens skin tones, a feature often performed in post-processing when taking a portrait.

(9) Several other new functions and features.
・ The GFX100 can accommodate two NP-T125 batteries, extending the number of frames per charge to approx. 800 when using the rear LCD display.
・ The camera can be powered and charged via USB-C connection. Connecting an external battery compatible with USB Power Delivery allows for even longer continuous shooting and simultaneous charging of the two batteries in the camera.
・ This is the first model of the GFX series to have IEEE802.11ac 5GHz support, enabling even faster wireless image transfer.
・ As in previous GFX models, the GFX100 supports the "Tether Shooting Plug-in PRO for Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom®" and "Capture One Pro FUJIFILM" for RAW processing and tethered shooting to fit the workflow of any professional photographer.
