With a particularly sleek design, the NIKON Z 50 is a DX-format mirrorless digital camera that revolves around the versatile Z Mount. Capable in both still and video images, the Z 50 features a 20.9MP CMOS sensor and an EXPEED 6 image processor, enabling fast performance of up to 11fps, a reliable 209-point hybrid AF system with eye detection, and remarkable low-light performance at ISO 51200. For VCRs, UHD 4K supports up to 30fps along with Full HD recording at up to 120fps for slow-motion playback. To adjust your photos and videos, clip cropping can be used in-camera, and 20 creative image controls and 10 special effects settings help infuse your images with a unique look.

The body design is impressively sleek but still ergonomic to benefit shooting throughout the day. A high-resolution 2.36m dot OLED EVF benefits from working in bright conditions with clear eye level vision and the 3.2" rear touchscreen LCD has a 180° flip-up design that's perfect for selfies. The magnesium alloy body is weather-sealed, too, to suit work in inclement conditions. Plus, for easy sharing, the built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work in conjunction with the NIKON SnapBridge app to wirelessly transfer photos and videos and control the camera remotely from your mobile device.

20.9MP DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 image processor
The 20.9MP CMOS sensor in DX format is combined with the EXPEED 6 image processor to provide a versatile mix of high sensitivity, nuanced image quality and fast overall performance. At native values, a sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200 allows working in a wide range of lighting conditions, and can be further extended to ISO 204800 for extreme low-light conditions. The combination of resolution and sensor size also contributes to clean image quality and smooth color transitions with reduced noise throughout the sensitivity range. In addition to benefiting image quality, the EXPEED 6 processor also delivers great speed throughout the camera system, including a maximum full-resolution continuous shooting speed of 11fps and 30fps at 8MP.

In addition to images, the sensor design also incorporates a 209-point hybrid autofocus system, which uses phase detection and contrast detection methods to acquire focus quickly and accurately for both still image and video applications. This focusing system also supports Eye Detection AF, which uses facial recognition to help focus on subjects' eyes.

• 4K UHD video recording

Capable of recording more than just still images, the Z 50 supports 4K UHD video recording at up to 30fps and Full HD recording at up to 120fps, for slow-motion effects, along with the ability to save movie files to in-camera memory cards or an optional external recorder via HDMI output. It is also possible to shoot at intervals on the camera with the ability to produce a finished 4K UHD video file directly from the camera.

• Body design and connectivity

A large 3.2" 1.04m dot LCD screen is available for bright, clear and vivid image reproduction and live image capture. The display has a 180° tilt design, which benefits front-facing selfie captures, and is also a touchscreen for more intuitive handling, navigation and settings control.
A 3.6m dot electronic finder is present for comfortable viewing at eye level. It has a magnification of 1.02x and uses NIKKOR optics to ensure a crisp and clear image.
Individual SD memory card slots support up to UHS-I protocol for quickly storing photo and video files.
A robust magnesium alloy chassis is dust and weather resistant to benefit work in harsh climates and inclement conditions.

Built-in SnapBridge connectivity to enable smooth transfer of low-resolution images, as well as remote shooting capabilities. BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and Wi-Fi allow communication between the camera and a smart device and, additionally, the mobile device can remotely activate the shutter and display a live view image from the camera to allow working from a distance.
The included EN-EL25 rechargeable Li-ion battery provides approximately 300 shots per charge, and charging in the camera is supported when using the optional EH-73P charging AC adapter.

Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR is a 24-75mm equivalent zoom designed for DX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras. Covering a zoom range from wide-angle to portrait length, this lens is well suited for everyday shooting situations. Its optical design incorporates extra-low spherical and dispersion elements, which help reduce a variety of aberrations for sharper, clearer image quality throughout the zoom range. A super integrated coating has also been applied to minimize ghosting and flare to increase contrast and color accuracy in bright, backlit conditions.

The lens' flexible focal length range is complemented by vibration reduction image stabilization, which minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to 4.5 stops for sharper shots. A stepper motor provides fast, quiet and accurate autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override to suit both still and video images. In addition, a programmable control ring can be configured for intuitive adjustment in a variety of camera and exposure settings.

The standard zoom is designed for DX-format Z-mount NIKON mirrorless cameras and provides an equivalent focal length range of 24-75mm.
Extra-low dispersion elements decrease color stripes and chromatic aberrations to improve color clarity and accuracy.
Four aspherical elements minimize spherical aberrations and distortion throughout the zoom range for sharpness and accurate rendering.

The stepper motor delivers impressively smooth, quiet and fast autofocus performance that adapts well to both still images and video applications. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and an internal focus design is used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the full length of the lens during use and promote faster focusing speeds.
Image stabilization with vibration reduction minimizes camera shake by up to 4.5 stops for sharper handheld shooting.
The programmable control ring is set by default to adjust manual focus, but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.
The specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability, which is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting speeds.
The rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasant off-focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field techniques.
