Incredible digital medium format image quality in a compact and ergonomic design. The use of a large 30 x 45 mm, optical CCD sensor of the captures S2 37.5 megapixels files in the classic 3:2 format. Designed to deliver maximum resolution in a convenient form factor, the body is similar in shape to a modern 35-inch DSLR camera.

The S2-P differs from the S2 to the addition of an abrasive and scratch resistant sapphire glass cover to protect its LCD screen.In addition, the SP-2 includes a Platinum Service Package from LEICA which adds an additional 2 years of coverage against manufacturing defects or breakage beyond the included 1 year warranty.In case of need for camera repair, customers are entitled to a replacement unit free of charge within 24 hours and for the period of the repair.In addition, first-time maintenance by customer service is free of charge, and this also includes the camera shutter and lens (including shutter replacement)
