Designed specifically for NIKON Pro level DSLRs with a full screen (FX) sensor (such as the NIKON D700 and D3x), this super wide-angle zoom has 15 elements in 13 groups, using aspherical super low dispersion glass and SD elements to reduce chromatic aberration and give maximum resolution. The unsupervised DC motor allows the lens to focus quickly and silently and works with a GMR magnetic autofocus sensor to increase AF speed even further.

Silent NEW DC motor with GMR sensor
The 16 to 28 f/2.8 uses a newly developed silent DC motor that allows the lens to focus faster and quieter later generations. The DC motor, along with a new magnetic AF sensor worked GMR together to increase the AF speed.
Aspherical and Super-low dispersion crystal elements
A new, 56 mm diameter, large aspherical glass element is incorporated into the front lens group, while there are two more aspherical elements in the rear group. Three super-low SD dispersion glass elements are also incorporated throughout the optical design to reduce chromatic aberration, give maximum resolution, plus even brightness correction and distortion.
One-Touch Focus clutch
TOKINA's exclusive one-touch clutch focus mechanism allows the photographer to switch between AF and MF simply by adjusting the forward focus ring for the AF and back to the camera to focus manually. There is no second lens AF/MF switch to NIKON, all of which is achieved by the focus ring.
