ContactThe PocketWizard Plus III transceiver is the most reliable, feature-packed, and easy-to-use solution available for remote camera and flash activation
The Plus III transceiver boasts a staggering 32 channels. Whether you're a wedding or sports photographer, or if you work in a busy studio, finding a free channel will never be a problem. Quad-Zone selective activation, a feature once reserved for elite photographers, adds four zones, and this allows photographers to remotely activate the flash or cameras, in groups or individually. For those photographers who are required more for less, this additional flexibility is a huge competitive advantage.
The Plus III is easy to operate. The soft touch keyboard is large and intuitive, and a beautifully backlit LCD panel shows everything you need to know. All of this is presented in a sleek, side-view design that reduces obstruction to the view, and conveniently positions all controls. The antenna with precision tuning is inside the radio case, for better durability.
The Plus III adds reliability to the legendary Plus with a range of tasks that will meet all the photographer's everyday needs. For more difficult environments or distances, there are two additional features that improve range and reliability. Long Range Mode (LR) will roughly double the scope of work, and is ideal for remote camera activation. Repeater Mode (RP) allows you to add one or more radios between the transmission and reception radios, to overcome distance, obstacles or other interference. RP mode works well for remote camera activation and also for remote flash activation.
Like the Plus II, the Plus III is a self-detecting transceiver, which means it will automatically switch from transmitter to receiver as needed. This is very useful for synchronizing remote cameras to remote flash. When the receiving radio in a remote camera receives activation, it can automatically activate Auto-Relay Mode and send an activation signal on the next highest channel. This activates the remote flash in full sync with the remote camera.
Remote camera users will love the new Two-Stage Activation feature. The TEST key on the Plus III acts as the camera's shutter releaser, with "medium-pressure". Use this unique feature to turn on, focus, and measure a remote camera before activation. Pressing TEST fully activates the remote camera. Also, with a Plus III on a portable camera connected with a PocketWizard ACC (alternating current) cable to the motor unit port, that camera shutter releaser will also turn on and prepare the remote camera for shooting. With remote camera activation, you can achieve two or more images per key press and capture multiple angles at the same time.
Of course, the Plus III is reverse compatible with all PocketWizard radios, making it the perfect addition to the existing device. It is ideal to have it together with the MultiMAX, which has the same group of 32 channels and four zones.
The Plus III can shoot at constant activation speeds of up to 14.5 photos per second. Two AA batteries are enough for the Plus III and will last up to 50 hours, and when needed for remote camera activation an external battery can be placed through the Mini-B USB 2.0 port. The USB port can also be used for firmware updates.
Whether you have no experience in remote activation of cameras and flashes, or if you are a major professional who wants to overcome the limitations of your equipment, the reliability, simplicity and performance of the Plus III make it the perfect tool for the job. The Plus III is the new standard of excellence.
