The lens NIKON 24-70mm f2.8G ED AF-S andis a standard fast-aperture zoom lens designed for photojournalism and general photography with wide-angle at portrait-length perspectives. Optimized for edge-to-edge sharpness in both the FX (full frame) NIKON and DX format image sensors that lends the equivalence of 35mm focal length of 36-105mm on DX format cameras. The f/2.8 Maximum aperture is effective in low-light conditions and creates a depth of field with pleasant out-of-focus highlights enhanced by a rounded 9-blade diaphragm.

The optical design includes three ED (extra low dispersion) and glass precision mold elements (PGM) aspherical lenses that help control chromatic aberrations while improving sharpness and contrast, even at the widest aperture settings. Nano Crystal and Super Integrated lens layers improve light transmission, reducing reflections and ghosting.

The characteristic internal focusing and silent wave motor (SWM) system offer fast autofocus with superior accuracy and ultra-quiet operation.
