Macro mode

A separate macro position in the zoom ring brings the focus closer to as little as 0.38 m at any zoom position and a maximum playback ratio of 0.7x to the actual size.

Image stabilization technology

Shoot handheld in low-light conditions with shutter speeds up to four steps slower than usually recommended. Image Stabilizer (IS) technology automatically detects that the photographer is performing a sweep to follow moving objects and disables stabilization in that direction. The Hybrid IS detects both angular and rotational movements when using macro mode.

Capture images of exceptional quality throughout the zoom range. Two types of aspherical lens element are used in combination with ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements to effectively eliminate optical aberrations. Super Spectra coatings minimize flare and maximize contrast.
