The Carl ZEISS T*A 24-70mm f2.8 SONY Lensis a bright zoom lens, designed specifically by Carl ZEISS for SONY's Alpha-series DSLR cameras. The particularity of this lens is the Carl ZEISS T* (T-star) coating that helps reduce the reflection in the lens, while increasing the contrast. When used with APS-C cropping of size DSLR cameras, the equivalent focal length of this lens is 36-105mm. It is a compact all-in-one lens, and is ideal for snapshots, portraits, interiors or outdoor landscapes. This lens is built of 16 elements in 13 groups, as well as 3x extra low dispersion (ED) glass elements, which all help deliver crisp, clear photographs across the zoom range. It has a minimum focusing distance of 1.5" and a front end filter diameter of 77mm. The lenses' maximum aperture is a fast f/2.8 and can be held throughout the zoom range. Its minimum aperture is f/22. It also features 9 circular aperture sheets that work to produce smooth, focusing background effects.

- Circular aperture sheets produce, bokeh rounded tip background effects by capturing point sources of light in your images. Because the aperture sheets form a circle near the large openings used for low-light shots, spot-light sources have a pleasant circular blur effect.
