Metabones Speed Booster SONY Nex a CANON EF E Speed ULTRA

The Canon EF Lens for SONY E-Monte Metabones' Speed Booster ULTRA camera improves over the original Metabones Speed Booster with a 5 element/4 optical design group that incorporates ultra-high refractive index tantalum-based glass to improve sharpness and distortion and reduced vignetting. The Speed Booster ULTRA allows a full frame CANON EF lens to be mounted on an APS-C E-Mount format camera and in doing so, increases the viewing angle and maximum aperture by about one f/stop.

When a lens intended for full 35mm frame or film sensors is mounted on a camera with an APS-C size sensor, it transmits a larger area of light than the smaller sensor was built to accept and thus the effective viewing angle of the magnifying lenses. The Speed Booster condenses the light from the lens and projects it onto the APS-C sensor which allows the sensor to use the entire lens' light and effectively reduces the crop factor of and APS-C E-Mount camera from 1.5x to 1.07x, producing a full-frame angle of view with an APS-C sensor. A corresponding increase in the maximum aperture of one f/stop makes the lens more effective in low-light situations and capable of creating a depth of field.

Information about auto exposure is communicated by speed booster and controlled from the camera body and partial autofocus is supported for after 2006 CANON brand lenses. No external power supply is required as the speed booster is driven by the camera.

Speed Metabones Boosters are quality made, using precision machined brass with chrome plating on both the camera body and the lens side of the reinforcement in order to ensure a smooth, aesthetic mounting quality and durability. This adapter has a detachable tripod foot that is compatible with the Swiss Ark, Markins, and Photo Clam Ball Chiefs.

These speed thrusters are only fully compatible with aps-C mirrorless housing cameras or smaller image sensors. They physically fit the SONY A7/A7R/A7S full frame mirrorless cameras but the camera should be set to crop mode to fully support the functions of speed booster.

It allows a full frame CANON EF lens to be mounted on an E-mount APS-C format camera and, in doing so, increases the angle of view and increases the maximum aperture of one f/stop.
The Ultra Speed Booster design incorporates ultra-high index tantalum-based optical glass for improved optical performance with increased corner sharpness and reduces distortion and vignetting. This glass technology and optical design perform very well with professional level f/2.8 zoom lenses and high-speed fixed focal length lenses, such as a 50mm f/1.2 which will perform as a 35.5mm f/0.9 lens with high contrast and resolution from the center to the edges of the image.
The electronic integration of the camera aperture is compatible with P, A, S and M modes and is controlled through the camera body and partial autofocus is only officially supported after 2006 model lenses of the CANON brand. Continuous AF is not supported. Image stabilization with SUPPORT and EXIF data is communicated.
High-performance 32-bit processor and efficient switched power is offered and the speed booster is powered by the camera body.
Precise fit and solid connection - lens has no play, gap or wiggle when riding in speed booster and no adjustments are required to fit your lens. Both the camera side and the lens side of the speed booster are brass which is precision machined and chrome plating.
The Speed Booster uses the matte black treatment to avoid internal reflection to a minimum in order to maintain the maximum possible optical quality with the lens. The exterior features a black satin surface finish.
This Metabones Speed Booster features two different operating modes, Green and Advanced. In Green mode battery power is conserved by reducing certain functions. For example, in Green mode there is no preview depth of field and no auto-magnify manual focus assistant. The mode of operation is set when the lens is mounted.
The lens aperture "is wide open for easy focusing while the Wide-Open (WO) button of the Metabones Speed Booster is depressed. Release the button and the lens will be back to the tight aperture in the camera. This very open feature automatically turns off when you actually take a picture and during video capture.
The Speed Booster is tuned to be able to focus to infinity for each combination of lens and camera body, and also to ensure optimal optical quality with CRC or floating element lenses. No adjustments are necessary, but some older lenses that are out of tune due to age and lower quality optics may not be able to focus to infinity with a Speed Booster. It is possible to adjust Speed Booster to allow infinite focus of these lenses by loosening the stop screw and rotating the glass elements.
