Optimized for maximum light output, the M400 features a guide number of 40' to ISO 100 and zoom adjustment of 24-105mm. It also offers a zoom range of 24-105mm with an integrated broadcast panel that extends coverage to 12mm lenses. In addition, for video, the Flash METZ Mecablitz M400 has an LED video light with six output levels that is useful for video.

The flash offers a full range of motion for rebound lighting techniques, including tilting out of -9 and 90° and rotation totaling 360°. It is also equipped with an OLED display that offers a clear view of the settings. Users will be able to work quickly with the M400 thanks to recycling times between 0.1 and 3.2 seconds. And, it offers possibility of slow shooting, or high speed, 1st and 2nd curtain synchronization options.
