RF60x | Cactus Flash Flash Strobist

The RF60x Cactus Flash is a compact portable type flash with a built-in transceiver system in the same unit making it compatible with high-speed/FP sync mode,

This Strobist flash incorporates as a novelty an IR AF help light and an exclusive cooling mode.

The RF60x Cactus Flash operates wirelessly with a 2.4 GHz radio frequency system with a built-in transceiver that works with 16 channels. It operates in three modes, Local for in-camera operation, master and slave modes for off-camera. To act as a commander, set an RF60X to master and that can trigger an unlimited number of RF60X set in slave mode. The effective distance between the Master and RF60X RF60X slave is up to 100 meters (328 feet).

Automatic wireless HSS support

When activated by a V6 II/V6 IIS cactus , the RF60X supports High Speed Synchronization (HSS)/Focal Plane (FP) mode, which is normally found in a TTL flash. Controlled from the V6 II / V6 IIS transmitter, the user can select from Normal HSS, the typical already pulsating flash with lower power outputs; or Power Sync, which gives you an increase in flash power.

The fast recharge time of the Flash Cactus RF60x can recycle as fast as 1.9 seconds.

The RF60x Cactus Flash incorporates an auxiliary AF Light Unlike most other portable flashes on the market, the AF assist light on the RF60X can also function as an off-camera flash in slave mode. The Cactus V6 II turns on the AF assist light will automatically illuminate which will bring the subject and provide additional light to assist the focus of the camera lens. This is especially useful as the flash is usually placed distances closer to the camera subject.

New Flash cooling mode Cactus RF60x Through intelligent regulation, the RF60X's recycling time runs fresh all the time. This industry-exclusive feature allows the flash to maintain consistent performance even after consecutive full-power flashes. Now you can shoot without the restriction of an overheating cut.

Remote control of power levels and zoom The power levels of the RF60X set in slave mode can be adjusted from 1/128 to 1/1 power in 0.3 EV steps. Zoom level can also be controlled from an angular zoom of 24mm to 105mm. With the power and zoom remote control, the RF60X units can be placed in hard-to-reach places and control their power level and zoom wirelessly.

Group control of up to four groups with configurable Alias Group In a typical lighting setting, the ability to adjust, enable and disable groups of lights is vital to creating the desired lighting effect. The RF60X can be configured in four different groups. The output power can be adjusted in the individual or group in all groups at the same time for quick adjustments. To make the shooting experience more efficient, the user can change the name of each group to: KEY, FILL, SPOT, RIM, hair, left, right, back and front.

Optical slave with delay function

The RF60x Cactus Flash has a built-in optical sensor. The optical sensor picks up the pre-flash signals that are being emitted before the flash is synchronized. By setting the pre-flash optical trigger and delay timer, you can set the exact time for the flash to start cooking. This allows the RF60X to do not only first curtain and second curtain timing (also known as front and rear curtain), but to shoot at any point in the given image.

multi-flash function

In Multi mode, a fast series of flashes were fired to capture multiple images of a moving subject in a single frame. This feature is available in all three flash modes so its users can create the desired effects with both inside and outside the camera's flash.

Compatible with other Cactus devices

The flash and zoom power in the slave RF60X units can be controlled by an RF60X Master, RF60 Master, as well as Cactus V6, V6 II and V6 transmitter-receiver flash IIs. Cactus V5 also supports Flash Basic shooting by the RF60X but does not support the rf60X's power control and zoom level.

Compatibility Notes:

  • Cactus RF60X is compatible with the Lumix DMC-GX8 PANASONIC . However, due to special camera synchronization requirements, when activated by a V6 Cactus II, the RF60 only supports HSS up to 1/1,000 s. (Update: September 1, 2016);
  • High-speed synchronization is supported when RF60X is triggered by a V6 V6 II or IIS Cactus on a compatible camera.

* HSS/FP mode is supported when RF60X is triggered by a Cactus V6 V6 II or IIS.
