2x anamorphic zoom

Lightweight and compact, the Laowa Proteus 45-85mm T2.9 2x S35 anamorphic zoom lens from Venus Optics covers Super 35 sensors and is ideal for use with stabilizers and handheld cameras and for quick setups. Combined with the separately available Proteus 26-45mm zoom, the two lenses provide a versatile wide range of 26-85mm and a zoom ratio of 3.27x.

Compact design

The Proteus 45-85mm lens measures only 7.6" long and weighs about 3.3 lbs, providing a compact and portable form factor that makes it the lightest front-facing anamorphic zoom available.

Super 35+ sensor coverage

A 31.9 mm image circle allows the Proteus 45-85 mm zoom to cover a variety of Super 35 camera sensors, including the ARRI ALEXA 35 Open Gate and RED V-RAPTOR 7K 6:5 formats.

Parfocal design with minimal breathing

This parfocal lens maintains focus while zooming, allowing you to create various zoom effects. Optimal angle sharpness and minimal distortion and breathing combine to create expressive images similar to the look of Proteus Prime lenses.

Constant aperture T2.9

The Proteus zoom series maintains a maximum aperture of T2.9 throughout the zoom range, ensuring optimum exposure and impressive sharpness, even in difficult lighting conditions.

Anamorphic blue flash color

Proteus zoom lenses deliver optical performance superior with no distracting color fringing, even when shooting at the maximum aperture T2.9.

Minimal aberration

Blue flare effects create a sci-fi or vintage look that highlights the anamorphic style. One of the three available options, the blue flare color, is indicated on the lens body.

Short focus distance

The 2x compression ratio produces an oval bokeh that adds an artistic touch, and the organic reduction of focus creates an appealing cinematic look.

ARRI PL mounts and CANON EF

This Proteus zoom includes a native ARRI PL mount that is interchangeable with the included CANON EF mount and with the separately available interchangeable CANON RF, NIKON Z, SONY E and L mounts.

Soft focus fading

Use the relatively short 35" focus distance and T2.9 maximum aperture to create a shallow depth of field with a greater sense of compression.

Optional 1.4x expander

Use this Proteus zoom with the separately available 1.4x expander to cover full-frame sensor cameras without any noticeable effect on resolution.

77 mm filter thread

Use the front thread to attach a 77mm filter directly to the lens, saving the weight of a matte box on your camera equipment.

0.8 MOD gears

Industry standard MOD 0.8 gears are installed in the focus, iris and zoom rings.

Focusing scales in feet or meters
