Revolving around a sophisticated optical design, summicron-S 100mm f 2 LEICA /ASPH lens is a first body portrait designed to excel in a wide variety of shooting conditions. Equivalent to an 80mm lens in 35mm format, this lens is characterized by its fast f/2 maximum aperture for selective focus control and low-light shooting capability. The lens's longer-than-normal focal length contributes to the remarkable subject insulation while providing a natural-looking perspective that fits portrait applications well. As far as the optical design is concerned, a number of low dispersion elements, as well as a double aspherical element, contribute to a marked reduction in chromatic aberrations for greater image clarity and contrast throughout the aperture range. Dedicated to the LEICA S-series medium-format digital cameras, this lens features an autofocus design with aperture control based on the electronic body. It features an internal focusing mechanism, along with a floating element design to enhance short-range imaging capabilities. Located inside a metal barrel, this lens is dusty and weatherproof to benefit from use in adverse conditions.

This first short telephoto lens is designed for medium format cameras LEICA S and offers a focal length equivalent to 35 mm of 80 mm.
F/2 Fast benefits maximum working aperture in difficult lighting conditions and also takes advantage of tremendous control over the selective focus of attention and shallow depth of field applications.
Three elements are made of glass with anomalous partial dispersion while another is made of extra-low high refraction dispersion glass. Together, the combination of these low-dispersion elements helps to significantly reduce chromatic aberrations and produce greater image sharpness and clarity.
A double aspherical element works to correct monochromatic aberrations and also reduces the overall weight of the lens.
Within the seven elements-in-five optical design groups, a unique floating element independently moves during focusing to ensure higher image quality when working at narrower focusing distances.

Electronic Aperture Control is supported via camera body control line.
Compatible with LEICA S camera (type 006) with firmware version 2.4.0.0 or later and LEICA S2/S2-P cameras with firmware version 1.4.0.0 or later.
