This optical design also helps control distortion and bullet limit.

A multilayer super coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize reflections on the lens and stray lights and contribute to the production of high contrast and color neutral images, even in backlit conditions.

The integrated Hypersonic Motor (HSM) of this lensSIGMA performs fast and quiet autofocus, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also allows manual focus control at all times, simply by turning the focus ring at any time.

The diaphragm of this new marvel of the SIGMA Art series is nine rounded blades helps to produce an attractive quality of blur in the out-of-focus areas.

The lens is constructed with a thermally stable composite material (TSC), along with traditional metals, for greater accuracy and use in wide temperature variations.
