Supporting wired and wireless streaming, the ECM-S1 portable streaming microphone is a compact, lightweight, high-performance unit that delivers crisp, high-quality, low-lag, low-noise audio for easy indoor and outdoor recording or live streaming.

High-quality microphone capsules for crystal-clear voice recording

Despite its compact size and light weight, the ECM-S1 features three large-diameter microphone capsules (14mm) that allow you to record clear, high-quality sound with a flat frequency response, especially for voices in the low-mid-frequency bands, while reducing noise. The great sound quality contributes greatly to the overall impression of viewers when watching a well-produced video.

Low levels of intrinsic noise deliver crystal clear sound

The microphone's low intrinsic noise and wide dynamic range allow you to capture even low-volume sounds with clarity. It is an ideal microphone for streaming and has been specially designed to capture the rich textures of the human voice near the mouth with clarity and naturalness.

Select directionality according to the scene

There are 3 directional sound capture modes available: Unidirectional, omnidirectional and stereo. The switch on the side of the microphone allows the user to select the directionality that best suits the current usage situation or scene.

Noise suppression filter functions

The digital anti-noise filter removes continuous background noise and the bass filter from the side of the microphone reduces low-frequency sound from wind, air conditioning and vibration. As less noise is reduced in post-production, workflow is improved.

Anti-pop filter to reduce pop effect

An antipop filter is included to avoid the annoying pop effect that can occur when pronouncing occlusive consonants with the microphone near the speaker's mouth, thanks to which it is possible to record voices, narrations and other audios in optimal conditions.

Lightweight and compact housing

The ECM-S1 consists of compact and lightweight receiver and transmitter/microphone units1 that offer great functionality with high-quality digital sound. It can be used in many environments, both indoors and outdoors with a camera.

Ease of use to adjust and confirm in real time

The independent AUDIO LEVEL dial allows you to adjust the audio input level in real time with the superior dial. In addition, the connection status between the microphone and receiver can be checked with the LINK indicator.

Suitable for long hours of outdoor shooting

The microphone and receiver have built-in batteries. The receiver can be used continuously with a direct power supply by connecting it to the Shoe2 Multi Interface (MI), PC or other device3. You can use the microphone for about 13 hours straight on a full charge. Don't worry about the battery, the microphone can be used for a long time.

More flexible audio recording thanks to wireless streaming

Bluetooth 5.3 (Bluetooth Low Energy) and LC3plus4 codec have low power consumption, low latency and high-quality sound. It can communicate up to 150 m5 with a good line of sight, for more flexibility with the microphone outdoors.

Supports various mounting and coupling methods

The microphone can be attached to a stand6 during recording, and the angle of the microphone can be adjusted forward and backward. The 1/4" thread on the bottom of the microphone can be used to mount it on a tripod and the conversion adapter to attach the microphone to an articulating arm7. 

A wide range of options with cameras and peripherals

Shoe Multi Interface (MI) for minimal audio delay and a wireless power supply

When connecting the receiver to a SONY camera8 that supports the Shoe Multi Interface (MI), such as a digital camera with interchangeable lenses or α™ series vlogging, there is no need to use another cable for power supply or audio interface.

Wireless sound recording together with a camera

By connecting the receiver to a camera SONY compatible with the Shoe Multi Interface (MI) with a digital audio interface, you can capture and stream quality audio digitally without degradation, so the wireless connection allows maximum recording freedom.

USB digital audio output

The microphone and receiver have a USB Type-C® port with a 48 kHz/24-bit digital audio output9. You can connect the microphone to many devices, allowing you to record and stream with various connection methods.

Microphone audio input/output via 3.5mm mini-jack (stereo)

It includes a 3.5mm mini-jack (stereo) for receiver audio output, making it possible to use with cameras, PCs, IC recorders and other devices without Multi Interface (MI) Shoe.

Audio control with headphones

The microphone includes a headphone-out jack10, which allows you to control audio with headphones (sold separately)11 when recording using a USB connection.
