The ECM-W3 has 2 transmitter microphones with microphone units with a high signal-to-noise ratio and a 2-channel receiver. The transmitters and receiver process the audio digitally and transmit it wirelessly, allowing you to capture and record the voice of 2 people with great clarity and low noise.

High-quality two-channel digital transmission

By connecting the 2-channel receiver with a camera1of SONY compatible with the Shoe Multi Interface (MI), such as a digital camera with interchangeable lenses or a α™ series vlogging, you can record the digital audio signal output of the receiver into the camera body, allowing quality sound recording with minimal noise pollution.

Noise suppression filter functions

On the side of the microphone there is an anti-noise filter that processes digital signal to eliminate it and another anti-bass in the low frequency range. There's no need to eliminate as much noise in post-production, making the workflow more efficient.

Compatible with Multi Interface (MI) Shoe

The receiver can be easily attached to a SONY camera1 that supports Shoe Multi Interface (MI), such as digital cameras with interchangeable lenses or α™ series vlogging cameras, wirelessly, to quickly capture sound and avoid interference with the vari-angle LCD, even if it is horizontal for recording. This allows a greater degree of freedom and mobility when recording.

The convenience of wireless

The ECM-W3 has 2 transmitter microphones and a 2-channel receiver that allows you to pick up sound from the voice of 2 people without cables. Communications up to 150 m2 in clear line of sight and Bluetooth 5.3 (Bluetooth low energy) and LC3plus3 codecs: less power consumption, less latency and high quality sound. Energy savings have contributed to reducing the size of the battery.

Safety and attenuator functions

Its safety function4 allows the simultaneous recording of 2 audio signals, one at normal volume and one at 20 dB less, which reduces the risk of cuts in recordings at high volumes. It includes a dimmer function to set the recording level to one of three values based on the audio volume.

Microphone audio input/output

A 3.5 mm mini-jack (monaural) is provided as the external microphone input terminal on the side of the microphone, and a 3.5 mm mini-jack (stereo) on the side of the receiver serves as the audio output terminal. In addition to picking up sound with a stereo lapel microphone, it can also be output to devices not equipped with Shoe Multi Interface (MI).

USB digital audio output

Digital audio (48 kHz/24-bit) can be streamed from the receiver to a smartphone or PC via a USB cable, as well as to a device that supports USB5 audio input for recording.

The LINK indicator shows the status of the communication channel between the microphone and receiver to avoid recording errors. POWER indicators on the microphone and receiver indicate battery level to avoid recording errors due to dead batteries.

The receiver is powered directly through interchangeable lens cameras or α 7™series digital vlogging cameras.

Compact charging case

The pack includes a small charging case, which will allow you to continue recording without worrying about the battery running out. The transmitter microphone unit can operate without interruption about 6 hours on a full charge.

Windscreen (included)

The included windscreen can be used to reduce wind noise that can occur when a strong breeze or breathing hits the microphone. Thanks to this, it is possible to record crisp and stable voices even outdoors.
