Designed for exact speed and sharpness, the NIKON Z 50mm S Lens is a normal-length fast prime with advanced optics and a brilliant design to fit everything from portraits with available light to documentary subjects with selective focus. Nikkor Z 50mm f1.2 lens excels in harsh lighting conditions and offers impressive control over depth of field to help isolate the subject against a blurry background. A number of aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements also help achieve high sharpness, remarkable clarity and accurate rendering, while ARNEO and Nano Crystal coatings, as well as a super-integrated coating, suppress reflections, ghosting and surface to improve contrast and color fidelity.

Complementing the optical design, a multi-focus system, employing two stepper motors, helps achieve incredibly fast, accurate and quiet focusing performance, along with full-time manual focus override, to meet still image and video needs. The lens also has a unique physical design, incorporating a superior OLED information panel that can be used to quickly confirm aperture and focus settings, and an assignable L.Fn button allows for exposure and configuration adjustments through the lens. In addition, a programmable control ring can be configured for intuitive adjustment in a variety of camera and exposure settings.

• The normal length main brightness is designed for FX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras, but can also be used with DX models where it provides a focal length equivalent to 75mm.
• The incredibly bright f/1.2 maximum aperture stands out in low-light conditions and also offers wide control over depth of field for working with selective focusing techniques.
• Three aspherical elements are used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to obtain sharp images with accurate representation.
• Two extra-low dispersion elements greatly reduce color stripes and chromatic aberrations to produce greater clarity and color reproduction.
• Arneo and Nano Crystal layers are used to prevent ghosting, reflections and flashes in order to achieve better contrast and clarity when working in bright lighting and backlight conditions. The nanocrystal layer controls incidental light from a diagonal direction while the ARNEO layer controls incidental light from a vertical direction. A super-integrated coating is also included in various elements to help ensure accurate and consistent colors.
• The multifocus system incorporates two independent AF control units, which are synchronized, to offer particularly fast and accurate focusing performance. This system uses stepper motors, which offer incredibly smooth and quiet autofocus performance that fits well into both still images and video applications. It is also possible to override full-time manual focus and an internal focus design, in which only the internal lens clusters move during focusing, is used to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and promote faster focusing speeds.
• The programmable control ring is set by default to adjust manual focus, but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.
• The integrated OLED lens information panel allows you to quickly confirm aperture settings, focus distance, and depth of field figures directly on the lens in both bright and dark situations.
• The assignable L.Fn button works in conjunction with the camera-based Fn buttons to provide a perfect spot to quickly change exposure settings and other functions.
• The specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous firing speeds.
