Nikon Z 20mm lens

An ultra-wide field of view coupled with a sleek form factor, NIKON 's NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S is a versatile prime that fits well into a variety of subject types, from architecture to interiors to landscapes. An advanced optical design uses aspherical and ED elements to produce sharp, well-corrected images with high clarity and color accuracy, and nanocrystal and super-integrated coatings are also used to suppress flare and ghosting for higher color fidelity and higher contrast.

Complementing the optical design, a multi-focus system, employing two stepper motors, helps achieve incredibly fast, accurate and quiet focusing performance, along with full-time manual focus override, to meet still image and video needs. In addition, a programmable control ring can be configured for intuitive adjustment in a variety of camera and exposure settings.

  • The Prime wide-angle lens is designed for FX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras, however, it can also be used with DX models where it provides a focal length equivalent to 30mm.
  • The maximum bright aperture of f/1.8 suits working in difficult lighting conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field.
  • Three aspherical elements are used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to obtain sharp images with accurate representation.
  • Three extra-low dispersion elements greatly reduce color stripes and chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range to produce greater clarity and color reproduction.
  • A nanocrystal layer, along with a super integrated layer, has been applied to the lens elements to minimize internal and surface reflections for a marked reduction of lens flare and ghosting.
  • The multifocus system incorporates two independent AF control units, which are synchronized, to offer particularly fast and accurate focusing performance. This system uses stepper motors, which offer surprisingly smooth and quiet autofocus qualities, which are well suited to video and photo applications. It is also possible to override full-time manual focus and an internal focus design, in which only the internal lens clusters move during focusing, is used to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and promote faster focusing speeds.
  • The programmable control ring is set by default to adjust manual focus, but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.
  • The specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous firing speeds.
  • The nine-blade rounded diaphragm promotes a pleasant blur quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.
  • The dust- and moisture-resistant lens body benefits the use of the lens in adverse conditions.
