• Innovative Z-Series optical design

Designed after the large diameter of the Z-mount, the 135mm f/1.8S Plena lens is the first NIKKOR Z lens to take full advantage of the mount's light-gathering potential. The larger rear element of the lens allows for this jump in peripheral illumination, bringing a constant brightness to the extreme edges of the frame. By drastically reducing vignetting, the clear path of light through the lens with minimal refraction is what produces the round, exquisite and regular bokeh that distinguishes Plena.

The optical design also benefits image clarity. Like bokeh effects, the lens achieves outstanding results throughout the frame. A short-wavelength refractive front element, an aspherical element and four scattering elements help minimize bleeding, fringes and color flares. In conditions of intense lighting and backlight, ARNEO and Nano Crystal Coats act against axial and lateral chromatic aberrations to avoid ghosting, reflections and flare for better contrast and clarity.

The lens also excels at transitions between focus zones, which, when combined with the resolving power of the lens, produce striking subject separation and textured detail at the widest aperture.

• Fast and accurate autofocus

The NIKON 's patented multifocus system incorporates two independent AF drive units, which are synchronized, to offer particularly fast and accurate focusing throughout the zoom range. This system uses dual STM steppers, which deliver impressively smooth and quiet autofocus performance that is well suited to photo and video applications. In addition, the programmable linear focus ring allows manual focus with smooth rotation in any direction.
