The NIKKOR Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct lens being developed by NIKON will currently be a standard 58mm fixed lens, open aperture and manual focus that will sit at the top position of the S-line NIKON.
It has inherited the design concept that is hidden behind the original AI Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 lens, a standard fixed lens launched in 1977, which received its name of "nocturnal" (musical composition that is inspired by the night or evokes it) and which was very well received for its ability to accurately reproduce point light sources as point images. The new Noct lens being developed will take advantage of the advanced design flexibility that the Z-mount allows in order to obtain the ultimate optical performance. This development also seeks to obtain a very wide maximum aperture of f / 0.95, which offers the latest in NIKKOR playback performance with an excellent level of detail and sharpness. In addition, the goal is to obtain attractive blur effects, or bokeh, with good continuity, and excellent precise image formation to achieve more attractive images and in three dimensions.
