Offering a set of versatile features to please photographers and videographers alike, the PANASONIC 's black Lumix DC-GX9 is a Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera that is also characterized by its rangefinder-inspired design and elegant shape. With a 20.3 MP Digital Live MOS sensor, along with a Venus Engine image processor, the GX9 can record 4K UHD movies at 30 or 24 fps, record high-resolution still images up to 9 fps with AF-S or 8MP still images at 30 fps, and work in difficult lighting situations with a superior sensitivity of ISO 25600. In addition, complementing the imaging capabilities, there is a Dual IS2 system that offers the use of image stabilization systems in the camera and lens to minimize the appearance of camera movement in up to four stops.
Regarding the physical design, the GX9 incorporates a 2.76m dot tilting electronic viewfinder and a 3.0" 1.24m tilting rear LCD touchscreen to suit work from a variety of angles. A dual dial superior allows direct adjustment of both exposure compensations and shooting mode settings, and the superior plate also has access to a contact shoe, as well as a built-in pop-up flash. For remote use of the camera, integrated Bluetooth LE allows wireless control over the shutter and select shooting functions with a linked mobile device and built-in Wi-Fi can also be used to transfer images to a smartphone or tablet.

Sensitivity ranges from ISO 200 to 25600, with the ability to extend up to ISO 100 to work in bright conditions or with longer shutter speeds. Versatile burst shooting modes of up to 9fps also allow you to pair high continuous shooting speeds with single or continuous shot autofocus. For even faster performance, up to 30fps at 8MP with 4K PHOTO modes.

4K UHD video recording

In addition to the versatile fixed shooting modes, the GX9 also supports 4K UHD video recording with frame rates of 30p or 24p at 100Mb/s in the MP4 format. Full HD 1080p60 is also supported, both in MP4 and AVCHD format.

4K PHOTO modes

Using the video recording capabilities of the GX9, a trio of recording modes are available to record 8MP continuous frames at a shooting speed of 30fps:
* Burst: This mode will allow you to record continuously, making it ideal for instances where you need a fast frame rate to capture the best moment.
* Pre-Burst: This mode is ideal for times when you are unsure of the critical moment to press the shutter button and will record images one second before and one second after pressing the shutter button to give you 60 frames to choose from. .
*Burst (S/S): This mode more closely follows the video recording process, and allows you to play your video, pause at the chosen time, and use the shutter button to mark a chosen frame of the video and save it as a single 8MP Frame.

Dual I.S.2

Helping to achieve maximum sharpness when shooting portable, Dual I.S.2 combines the GX9's 5-axis sensor shift image stabilization technology with lens-based image stabilization to compensate for a wider range of motion types for sharper, clearer images. Dual I.S.2 requires the use of Lumix lenses compatible with O.I.S. This stabilization system can compensate for approximately four stops of camera movement.

Body design and built-in Bluetooth

* A large Live View finder features a unique tilt design to benefit work from low angles and also has an impressive resolution of 2.76m dots and a magnification of 0.7x.
*A larger medium for image composition and reproduction, the 3.0" 1.24m rear LCD monitor has a downward tilting design of 80° up and 45° to support viewing from a variety of angles. It is also a touch screen, which allows intuitive navigation and control of settings.
* The sleek flat body profile incorporates front and rear dials for intuitive control over aperture and shutter speed. Stacked and dedicated top dials are also available for direct adjustment over exposure compensation and shooting mode selection.
* Built-in Bluetooth 4.2 (low energy) allows you to wirelessly control camera settings and release shutter and maintains full-time connection between camera and mobile device with low power consumption. To transfer files wirelessly, Wi-Fi is available for faster transfer speeds.

Depth-From-Defocus Autofocus

For accelerated autofocus performance, DFD (Depth-From-Defocus) technology is used to quickly calculate the distance to subjects and adjust the focus position in as little as 0.07 seconds, allowing continuous shooting of up to 6 fps with continuous AF. This contrast-detection type focus method benefits both fixed and video recording modes, as well as subject tracking applications where color, size, and motion vectors are used to intelligently lock moving subjects and ensure accurate focus. In addition, by supporting low-light working, the Starlight AF function enables accurate AF performance up to -4 EV.

Benefiting from manual focus operation, peak focus is available that highlights the bright edges of contrast with a color outline to quickly recognize your focus point, as well as Touch Assist MF for touch-to-focus operation. MF assistance can also be used to increase magnification by up to 20x for a more critical focus on specific issues.

Other camera features

* A mechanical focal plane shutter allows a maximum shutter speed superior of 1/4000 sec, as well as a superior flash synchronization speed of 1/200 sec. * Photo style modes: Standard, Live, Natural, Monochrome, L. Monochrome, L. Monochrome D, Landscape, Portrait and Custom. Each of these effects can be combined with the grain effect to increase the texture within the images.
