The Lumix 12-35mm f2.8 II X Vario ASPH lens is the most widely used standard zoom lens in photography, due to its comfort and versatility. Compared to the previous version, the new PANASONIC 12-35mm f2.8 LEICA X Vario Lens has a closer minimum focusing distance of just 15cm. Compared to the 25cm of the original.
As well as an optical construction made up of 14 elements distributed in 9 groups, including four spherical lenses, an Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion lens and an improved Ultra High Refractive Index to obtain even more accurate color reproduction. Apart from exceptional focusing, it now incorporates a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing for filmmakers.

The Lumix 12-35mm f2.8 II lens covers virtually any shooting situation, achieving a large aperture and integration of the O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer).
The lens is composed of 14 elements distributed in 9 groups, including 4 aspherical lenses, 1 UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) lens and 1 UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) to achieve high optical performance. The UHR lens glass has been upgraded to a higher transmittance glass for more natural color reproduction.
PANASONIC's unique Nano Surface Coating provides an effective anti-reflective coating that ensures a crisp description. By applying a thin coating with nanometric microstructure that presents an ultra-low dispersion ratio, the reflection of the entire wavelength of 380-780 mm, including the visible space, is reduced. Together with a new piece of light protection, the appearance of ghosting and flare is minimized.
For more versatile use, this new lens features a minimum focusing distance of 0.15m with a magnification of 0.21x, compared to the conventional Lumix G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 II ASPH, with 0.25m focusing distance and 0.17x magnification ratio.
The new lens runs smoothly and quietly thanks to the camera's high-speed, high-precision contrast AF system with sensor actuation at up to 240fps.
The new member of Lumix also excels at video recording, with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a very common problem of interchangeable lenses designed for photography. Together with a micro-step aperture control for smooth exposure change, professional-quality videos can be recorded.
The external design has also been refined to be worthy of the LEICA name. With its compact size and a very light weight of approximately 306 grams, the new lens offers great mobility with the Micro Four Thirds system.
The dust- and splash-resistant design* allows the lens to be used in harsh conditions, even at minus 10 degrees. The diameter of the filter is 55 mm, with a circular opening diaphragm of 7 sheets.
