Certified by the prestigious denomination LEICA, the lens not only guarantees the best image quality but also offers an exceptional design. The NOCTICRON designation responds to the high luminosity achieved by the new interchangeable PANASONIC lens, very noticeable among the Micro four thirds range.

Due to the shallow depth of field at maximum aperture a slight movement of the hand can generate out-of-focus images. To avoid this, the integrated POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) system effectively compensates the user's movements, regardless of the magnitude and speed they are. This makes it easy to get sharp photographs, even in low-light environments, such as indoors or at night. This system also works continuously with autofocus (AF) mode.

The focal length of 42.5 mm is perfect for portraits, giving the image great depth and stereoscopic effect. Thanks to the large aperture, users can employ a soft selective focus to bring creativity to their photographs. Its seven blades offer a rounded shape that produces an interesting smoothing effect in the areas outside the focus plane in photographs taken with large apertures. Due to its characteristics, this lens also captures landscapes with extreme naturalness. In addition, the lens ring allows direct and very intuitive control of the aperture value.

The lens system is made up of 14 elements in 11 groups and uses two aspherical lenses, one of them extra-low dispersion (ED) and one high refractive index (UHR). These lenses eliminate spherical aberrations and distortion. The ED lens allows for sharp, high-contrast reproduction without color mixing at the corners and the UHR lens makes the optics deliver a uniform image, from the center to the edges, as well as decreasing the size of the lens system.

Reflection is minimized across the entire visual range (380nm-780nm) thanks to the nanoscale structure low refractive index coating of the lens surface. All this results in an image of extreme clarity, with a very noticeable reduction of the flare and the folded images.

Another novelty of the DG NOCTICRON 42.5mm LEICA is the integration of an internal focusing system that allows excellent resolution and contrast, both in close images and in very distant objects. The new stepper motor makes focusing smoother and quieter, whether in photography or video.

It should be noted that AF mode is much faster than phase difference autofocus when using a fast lens with a value lower than F. Employed on the Lumix G, users can benefit from the high speed and accuracy of the contrast focusing system.

The sophisticated metal design makes the new PANASONIC lens worthy of the designation LEICA. The material also allows the assembly and disassembly of the lens with the maximum guarantee of durability.
