The offer of waterproof and shockproof cameras has been growing in popularity. These models have a range of functions that other cameras and smartphones cannot offer. RICOH IMAGING now has three models under the PENTAX brand (WG-8, WG-1000 and WG-90) that are characterized by combining excellent optics with a wide focal range and sophisticated image processing. The WG-1000, the new access camera to this range, offers a wide variety of interesting features. The 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch back-illuminated CMOS sensor together with the 27-108 millimeter zoom (equivalent to the 35-millimeter format) provide remarkable versatility. The 5-centimeter macro focus function makes it easy to get stunning close-up shots, and thanks to the waterproof body it is possible to submerge the camera to a depth of up to 15 meters.

A robust dustproof and waterproof camera A camera like the WG-1000 offers advantages that no smartphone and most cameras can't offer in challenging conditions. When you are completely focused on an extreme sport such as climbing or canoeing, it is key to be able to capture those fast-paced moments with guarantees. And that's when the WG-1000 comes into action. The WG-1000 PENTAX features a weather-resistant body that is designed to be submersible (JIS Class 8 certified) to a depth of up to 15 meters and with continuous operation of up to one hour. It is also resistant to dust (JIS Class 6), dirt, stains and drops from a height of up to two meters*. Thanks to its robust construction, it can be used in a wide variety of activities in harsh and complex conditions, even in underwater captures. Further expanding its range of potential applications, the WG-1000 can be sterilized with special solvents containing ethanol, sodium hypochlorite (approved as a food sanitizer) or chlorine dioxide, allowing it to be used in medical facilities or on construction sites as well.

Sharp images

Thanks to its back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with approximately 16.35 effective megapixels (with excellent high-sensitivity, low-noise characteristics and high-speed image data readout), the WG-1000 provides sharp, clear, high-resolution images with a high sensitivity of up to ISO 3,200. The anti-shake mode allows you to effectively compensate for camera shake when taking pictures. 4x optical zoom with a 27-millimeter wide-angle and 108-millimeter telephoto lens With a focal range of 4.9-19.6 millimeters (equivalent to approximately 27-108 millimeters in universal stop), the WG-1000's 4x optical zoom allows you to cover a wide range of applications without loss of quality. The camera also has a digital zoom function that extends the zoom range to 24x for high-magnification images.

Seven shooting modes

The WG-1000 offers seven shooting modes so you can select the best settings for each situation. In addition to a special underwater mode, which faithfully reproduces the colors of the underwater world by reducing the blue cast, the camera offers a scene mode that allows the user to select from 18 different options. The WG-1000 even features a manual mode that allows the user to adjust the aperture,

shutter speed and ISO sensitivity.

Extensive creative functions thanks to a large selection of colour filters DSLRs PENTAX long offered the option of using various colour filters to add a finishing touch to the shots in order to tailor the final result to each photographer's taste. The WG-1000 also has 20 colour modes that allow you to create custom images. In addition to the conventional black and white and sepia modes, other creative options are available such as 'Japanese Style', which enhances bluish colour tones; the 'Italian Style', which does the same with the greenish tones, or the 'French Style', which intensifies the reddish tones. In addition to these creative options, there are also presets such as 'Negative', which creates images reminiscent of photographs taken with negative film, or 'Sketch' mode, which adds a visual effect similar to that of a drawing. The user can easily add these effects before or after shooting.

Full HD video recording

The WG-1000 offers Full HD video recording in the H-264 format to capture high-quality footage (1920 x 1080 pixels at 16:9) at a rate of 30 frames per second.

Included Accessories

A protective cover (O-CC180) is included with the camera that prevents the housing from being exposed to scratches, ensuring that its appearance always remains intact and fresh even after heavy use. The carabiner strap (O-ST180) supplied as standard is also particularly practical for outdoor activities. Thanks to it, the camera can be stored safely and within easy reach without having to make the extra effort to take it out of the bag. The WG-1000 has two holes for attaching the carrying strap (O-ST174), which is optionally available.
