Professional camera system

Each of the rear lenses supports 4K HDR video at up to 120fps, but creators will love the optical and shooting tweaks implemented by SONY's Alpha 9 engineers. All three lenses include a 12MP and 16mm ultra-wide, a 12MP and 24mm wide-angle, and a 12MP telephoto lens. The telephoto lens in particular stands out with an optical zoom range of 85 to 125mm. You can actually zoom seamlessly from 16 to 375mm, switching from digital to optical and vice versa.

For still photography, you can benefit from similar accuracy to the Alpha 9, with real-time Eye AF and 20fps burst AF/AE for all lenses. Real-time Eye AF features the ability to work on both humans and animals, and real-time Eye AF tracking is available for photos and videos. In addition, it features 10-bit RAW support, manual controls, and an iToF 3D sensor to enable precise background separation that delivers smooth bokeh. On the front of the phone is an 8MP selfie camera to handle your selfie needs.

4K display

The display was also upgraded from the XPERIA 1 III, with a brighter 6.5" 4K 120Hz HDR OLED display with a cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio. The quality of the screen makes it a versatile feature, allowing you to use it as a viewfinder for filming, as a camera monitor, or to stream UHD media and play the latest in mobile games.

Live streaming

A micro-HDMI input on the XPERIA 1 IV sets it apart from other smartphones, adding a more professional-type feature to the mix. You can use it to stream live images from your DSLR or connect the XPERIA 1 IV to your camera to use as a high-resolution monitor.

Studio-quality sound

With Music Pro from SONY, you can achieve studio-quality sound by recording on-site with your phone's microphone and uploading it directly to the cloud. Once loaded, AI processing cleans up the audio as needed. Please note that this processing is only free for the first month up to 100 MB, but only audio recording is always free.

Faster 5G transfers

From live streaming to AI-processed audio, everything can be sent and downloaded from the cloud even faster with XPERIA 1 IV. Compared to the XPERIA 1 III, it now has access to the ultra-fast 5G sub6 and mmWave spectra where available. This can equate to download speeds of up to 5.6 Gb/s and uploads of up to 480 Mb/s.
