The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus was specifically designed to be the perfect camera for the ATEM Mini. The design has all the features of a broadcast camera, but with the expensive broadcast ports have been replaced with a cheaper HDMI version. The high performance HDMI output sends video to the ATEM Mini, while sending camera control, tally and remote trigger recording signals to the camera, making them incredibly fast for any project.
Designed for live production.
While the Blackmagic Studio Camera is designed for live production with mixers, it can also be used in other ways. Because it records Blackmagic RAW discs to USB, it is useful in all tripod scenarios. Thanks to the large 7" viewfinder, the camera is perfect for chat shows, TV productions, news broadcasts, sports, education, conferences and even weddings. The large, bright display with side handles, touch screen and buttons makes monitoring settings easy and comfortable for long periods of time. Because it weighs so little, the camera is ideal for frequent location changes and a wide variety of tasks.
Performance superior in low light conditions
In modern cameras, the ISO setting is a measure of the light sensitivity of the image sensor. For night shooting in natural light, the higher the ISO value, the higher the possible gain. The Blackmagic Studio Camera's gain of -12 dB (100 ISO) to +36 dB (25600 ISO) is optimized to reduce film grain and noise while maintaining full dynamic range. The primary native ISO sensitivity of 400 is designed for studio lighting. The secondary high base ISO of 3200 is perfect for shooting in low light. Gain can be set via the camera or via a switcher via SDI or Ethernet remote control.
Live productions with cinematic images.
In combination with Blackmagic Generation 5 Color Science, the legendary 4K sensor offers the same imaging technology as digital film cameras. Live productions with cinematic images are now possible. With the DaVinci Resolve primary color corrector you get significantly better images than with simple broadcast cameras. Even the corrector can be controlled from the blender. With 13 steps of dynamic range, the camera's black levels are darker and white levels are brighter - perfect for color correction! The sensor resolution of 4096 x 2160 is ideal for HD and Ultra HD projects. A bonus: all models support 23.98 to 60 fps.
Frame with large 7" viewfinder
The large 7" high-resolution screen will get your work done with one camera, because it significantly simplifies framing. For extreme brightness, the Pro model has an HDR display - ideal for outdoor shooting in bright sunlight! On-screen overlays show status and recording parameters, a histogram, focus peaking indicators, levels, frame markers and more. There are even 3D LUTs with colors and appearances of your choice for monitoring. The touch screen provides menus for loading and customizing presets per project. The included hood folds down to protect the screen during transport and is compatible with Blackmagic Studio Viewfinder hoods.
Physical and touch controls.
Blackmagic Studio cameras feature physical buttons and knobs as well as touch screen controls. The rotary knobs on the right allow you to adjust brightness, contrast and focus peaking. With the handy focus peaking control, you can refine the draw on the lights to focus perfectly when zooming in. The three function keys on the left can be assigned functions such as zebra, false colors, focus peaking, LUT and more. You can also use the menus to change key assignments. In addition to the head-up display with the most important information about the session, the touchscreen offers menus for camera settings, LUTs and your own presets.
Built-in Tally for on-air status
The Blackmagic Studio cameras feature a very large indicator light that illuminates red for live streaming, green for preview and orange for ISO recording. The tally light also includes clip-on transparent camera numbers, making it easy for talent to see camera numbers from up to 20 feet away. The Blackmagic Studio cameras support the HDMI tally used on ATEM Mini mixers.
Connection options
- Connection via HDMI: the camera can be connected to mixers via the HDMI output such as ATEM Minis. In addition to that, it supports tally, color correction and triggers recording signals from the mixer to the camera.
- Connect via USB: Due to the large screen, you can even record without a mixer. The camera is great for recording to USB drives in Blackmagic RAW while shooting. Setting up cadming is also very easy.
USB expansion port for accessories
Blackmagic Studio Camera is equipped with a high-speed USB-C expansion port that allows you to record to external drives and connect many accessories. The camera records high-quality 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files to external USB drives for further editing and color grading. Simply drag them to a computer for editing without wasting time copying. You can even connect focus and zoom demands for full aperture control. Plus, the USB port powers any connected phone or drive.
