1. Capture high-resolution, high-quality 360° spherical still images

Its brilliant folded optics system, large diameter F2.0 compact dual lens, and the latest image sensor, offer detailed 360° spherical images with an output resolution of about 14 megapixels. The exposure accuracy and white balance algorithms have been completely revamped from previous RICOH Theta SC models, and offer precise and natural expression in automatic shooting mode. In addition, its improved image sensor and image processing engine now allow you to record high-resolution 4K videos (3,840 x 1920 pixels) at 30 fps (frames per second) for up to three minutes, equivalent to high-end cameras.

2. Shooting modes adapted to different scenarios

The new RICOH Theta SC2 camera is now equipped with a range of preset modes that offer the perfect footage for specific subjects and shooting scenarios. It also has a new underwater mode, which allows the user to adjust to the white balance, which is ideal for photographing underwater.

Modes:

"Portrait Mode": detects human faces and automatically places them in the center of the image. This mode also uses exposure compensation and image noise reduction to apply the skin tintener.

"Night Mode": Uses dynamic range compensation and noise reduction through image composition to deliver beautiful night shots.

"Lens-to-Lens Exposure Mode": Controls two lenses individually to provide clear, bright images of subjects in scenarios where there are significant variations in brightness levels. It adapts to both indoor and outdoor scenarios.

3. Easy-to-understand user interface in camera body

The lower area of the camera body is equipped with an OLED status display that displays icons indicating the setting mode, smartphone connection status, remaining battery power, and other useful information. Its self-timer button makes this feature more convenient when shooting with the camera in a separate setting.

4. LAN Dual communication and high-speed data transfer via Bluetooth® and wireless LAN

The RICOH Theta SC2 can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth®, making it easier to use with these mobile devices. The wireless LAN connection allows you to use all functions, including live viewing and transferring images on a smartphone, as appropriate to the circumstances of the shooting.

The process has been changed so that the "superior /bottom" correction is done only when playing videos, rather than when data is transferred. This allows the video transfer speed to be about 4 times faster than in the previous model of RICOH Theta SC.

5. New "Animation Photo" feature offers improved ways to share content (Support planned for Spring 2020)

Still images taken with a smartphone camera and 360° spherical images taken with RICOH Theta can be composed in an app to generate an "Animation photo" in which a spherical image is displayed as animation when the image is touched. These images can be easily played and shared as Live Photos (iOS) or videos (AndroidTM), even with people who don't have the 360º viewing app.

RICOH THETA SC2 is available in four different colors from which users can choose.
