Take your adventure and outdoor photography to the next level with the RICOH WG-80 digital camera. This camera is designed for every outdoor environment imaginable, including underwater photography at depths of 46' for up to two hours. Ideal for construction sites, it has a sturdy and durable body that is shockproof, frost and shockproof.

In addition to its rugged design, the WG-80 has a CMOS backlit image sensor with high optical efficiency and approximately 16 effective megapixels. It also features a high-performance image engine, a 5x optical zoom lens, and a large wide-frame LCD monitor. This camera offers enhanced underwater modes for still photography and video, and its built-in light ring has adjustable lighting levels. Turn on the six LED macro lights around the lens cylinder to create a three-dimensional effect or expand your range of photographic expressions.

Sturdy body construction.

The solid and airtight body of the WG-80 is not only waterproof to a depth of 46 feet for up to two hours of continuous operation (equivalent to IPX 8 or JIS Class 8), but is also shockproof against drops from a height of 5 feet, dustproof (equivalent to IPX 6 or JIS Class 6), freeze-proof at temperatures as low as -10°C / 14°F, and crush-proof against weights up to 100 kgf (kilogram force). Thanks to this rugged construction, the camera performs reliably even in harsh and demanding outdoor conditions.

Exceptional image quality

The WG-80 is equipped with a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, which ensures high sensitivity, low noise characteristics and high-speed reading of image data signals. Together with a high-performance image processing engine, this image sensor offers a maximum sensitivity of ISO 6400 and super high-resolution images with approximately 16 effective megapixels. It has advanced image processing features, made possible by the latest super-resolution technology, to ensure sharp, clear and high-resolution images. It even offers such innovative features as the Handheld Night Snap mode, which automatically captures multiple images of the same night scene to produce a single composite image without blurring from them.

Six macro lights to aid in close-up shooting, with various functions

Ideally positioned around the circumference of the lens cylinder for macro shots, six LED macro lights allow the WG-80 to provide bright, uniform illumination on a subject when Digital Microscope mode is selected. With maximum lighting intensity (almost double that of its predecessor) and a five-stop intensity adjustment function, this six-light unit allows the photographer to effortlessly optimize short-range flash photography based on subject or creative intent. To minimize camera and subject shake, the Instant Illumination Enhance feature allows the use of a higher shutter speed by automatically raising the discharge level of the macro lights at the time of shutter release. Macro lights also provide other useful features, such as self-portrait assist mode, which uses the flickering of an LED lamp to check if the subject's face has been safely captured within the image frame, and LED lighting mode, which uses macro lights to illuminate in the dark.

Underwater shooting mode

Designed specifically for underwater photography, the Underwater and Underwater Video shooting modes are programmed to optimize color and contrast, based on data from images captured underwater. These modes deliver sharp, true-to-life images by enhancing shades of red lost in underwater photography, while effectively compensating for contrast loss caused by diffusing light in the water. In Submarine mode, the Flash off + Flash on option allows the user to capture two images consecutively with a single shutter shot: one without flash and one with flash.

5X optical zoom lens with 28mm wide-angle coverage

The WG-80 features a high-performance fivex optical zoom lens with focal length coverage from 5mm to 25mm (equivalent to approximately 28mm to 140mm in the 35mm format) to suit a wide range of scenes and subjects, including sweeping landscapes. It also provides other convenient shooting features, such as a macro mode to capture dramatic close-up images from a minimum focusing distance of just one centimeter; an intelligent zoom function to extend the zoom range to approximately 36 times (equivalent to 1008mm in the 35mm format) without compromising image quality, for a telephoto superior photography; and an interval shooting mode, which is useful for observing fixed points.

Full HD movie recording for extended shots of high-quality movies

The WG-80 provides Full HD movie recording using the H.264 recording format. Users can capture high-quality extended movie clips (1920 x 1080 pixels, 16:9 aspect ratios) at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. To add some creative touches to your movie recording, there's a high-speed camera feature for slow-motion playback of captured movie clips and an interval movie feature. A micro-HDMI (Type D) terminal is also provided in the camera body for simultaneous output of Full HD movie clips and sound to external audio-visual devices.
