Ricoh GR IIIx HDF Camera | RICOH GR 3x HDF

Key features of the new GR III HDF and RICOH GR IIIx HDF RICOH

  • One-touch activation of the new HDF filter to create smooth images. Both models feature the Highlight Diffusion (HDF) filter to put the visual emphasis on the highlights and produce smooth, delicate images. Developed from advanced RICOH printing technology evolved over the years, this special effect filter is designed to blur the highlight areas and create a blurring effect at their edges, making it possible to capture images with a touch of nostalgia reminiscent of captures made with analog cameras or cinema films. As it is possible to activate and deactivate the HDF filter at will with a simple action, the user can switch between two totally different types of visual expression depending on the subject being photographed or the creative will: sharp and clear images, idiosyncratic from RICOH GR cameras, and soft and delicate shots thanks to the HDF filter. This creative versatility expands the visual boundaries of point-and-shoot photography.
  • Unlike the GR RICOH on which they are based, the shutter release button on the new models has a greyish colour to symbolise the alternation between two different modes of visual expression.
  • The default setting of the Fn button is assigned to the activation and override of the HDF filter. It is possible to assign another function to this button.

With the release of these new models, a new firmware update with performance improvements is available for all cameras in the RICOH GRIII and GR IIIx series.

Up to three base white balance settings can be pre-programmed. It is also possible to link the base white balance with the white balance fine-tuning function. The new models feature Zone Selection AF, which automatically locks focus to the most appropriate point within the selected image area in a 3x3 grid. The 3x3 focus areas are identical in size to that of the 'AF Auto Area (Center) mode.
