For reflected readings, a flat Lumigrid replaces the Lumisphere. If you plan to shoot with a fixed ISO and shutter speed, an optional slide set (Direct Reading Slides) makes it easier to take readings in fast-paced shooting scenarios. The L-398A Studio Deluxe III SEKONIC is an ideal meter for both still and moving images. The classic photometer whose roots can be traced back to the famous director Norwood, the SEKONIC L-398A has become a favorite of filmmakers around the world. A pure analog experience, the needle system and exposure dial show all reading combinations at a glance. Because it uses an amorphous photoelectric cell that generates its own energy, there is no need for a battery.
Incident measurements can be taken with the Lumisphere over 180 degrees for general readings of three-dimensional objects, or selective area readings with the Lumidisc, measuring the illumination ratios between lights and shadow areas or light falling on flat ground, objects such as artwork, outdoor measurements or under bright studio lights. The L-398A SEKONIC swivel head allows you to press and hold the metering button to check light levels. Release the button and the needle locks for easy reading of the analog display and viewing exposure calculations. Exposures are shown for both photo and film applications.
