With a compact design, light weight and exceptional image quality in the Contemporary SIGMA lineup, this lens stuns with beautiful bokeh and the amount of brightness expected from F1.4 lenses even in the mid-telephoto range for cropped sensor cameras. In addition, this lens is characterized by a smooth and quiet autofocus, ideal for video capture. Compatible with SONY Hybrid AF Fast E mount, it also achieves accurate AF tracking. When using the camera's facial recognition or AF functions, the focus will be continuously on the face or eye, even if the subject moves during shooting.

Taking advantage of the latest technologies and design ideas of SIGMA, this new lens fulfills the concept of the Contemporary line, which offers an optimal balance of several elements. Photographers can experience F1.4 brightness and the functionality of a standard lens with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 60mm on the Micro Four Thirds system and 45mm on the SONY E-mount system.

In addition to an optimized design and energy distribution, this lens incorporates an aspherical element and a double aspherical element, as well as an element with a high refractive index, high dispersion glass with a high partial anomalous dispersion. By effectively leveraging these technologies, the lens delivers excellent brightness to the edges of the image and minimizes transverse chromatic aberration. To correct distortion, the lens takes advantage of mirrorless camera body image correction, using the correction power of the optical system to improve sharpness. The SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary features a barrel and TSC opening pieces, which contribute to both the compact size of the lens and the smooth functioning of the aperture system. The TSC helps increase the accuracy of the cells that hold the objective elements and parts related to the focusing lens group, further improving the performance of the lens.

*Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) is a material that offers thermal expansion characteristics similar to those of aluminum. As parts made with TSC expand and contract less due to temperature changes, they help maintain target performance. TSC also offers exceptional elasticity. Compared to polycarbonate containing 20% glass, TSC offers approximately 70% more elasticity. Compared to polycarbonate which contains 30% glass, TSC offers approximately 25% more elasticity.
