Sigma 24-70mm II Lens | Buy SIGMA 24-70mm f2.8 II

An Art 24-70mm F2.8 evolved in every way: performance, functionality and portability

Significant evolution of the original model, the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art is a benchmark lens that incorporates the brand's most advanced technologies from design to production.

Compared to the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art offers greater resolving capability throughout the zoom range and has several functional improvements, such as the addition of an aperture ring or high-speed focusing thanks to the redesigned HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) linear motor.

It is also 7% smaller and 10% lighter than the previous model. A versatile, high-performance tool that allows photographers and filmmakers to unleash their full creative potential.

Dustproof and splash-proof structure

This lens features a dustproof and splash-proof construction, with a special highly effective seal on the mount, focus and zoom rings (in the case of SIGMA variable focal length lenses) and other elements, allowing photographers to work safely in all types of weather conditions.

Performance and quality worthy of a benchmark goal

Evolution of a flagship like the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, known for its high optical performance, this model manages to improve resolution throughout the focal range, maintaining high sharpness throughout the frame from the maximum aperture even in high-resolution cameras. The F2.8 diaphragm produces a great and beautiful bokeh effect and allows you to feel the experience of shooting with a top-notch lens in any field of visual expression. In addition to its advanced proximity shooting capability and resistance to flare and ghosting, this lens is designed to minimise focus breathing, providing the right performance in any situation.

High optical performance across the entire image and in any focal length

The optical design includes six FLD, two SLD and five aspherical glass elements to suppress various aberrations along the entire zoom path. In particular, it manages to keep sagittal coma flare under control, consistently delivering high resolution to the edges of the frame. Thanks to effective correction of the aberration

Chromatic side, it is possible to obtain high-resolution images free of color halos.

Five aspherical lenses

The use of five high-precision aspherical lenses results in high optical performance with minimal required aberration correction, as well as a compact optical design. The only SIGMA production site in Japan's Aizu region features high-precision aspherical molding technology that makes it possible to create the thin, highly polarized aspherical lenses essential to building this zoom. A technical prodigy that translates into greater freedom when it comes to conceiving its optical design.

Excellent approach capability

The lens has an amazing close-up shooting capability, with a minimum distance of 17 centimeters at its widest focal length and a magnification ratio of 1:2.7. A very timely feature for taking close-up shots of a subject or shooting in small spaces.

*You have to be extremely cautious when photographing a close subject so that it does not impact the front lens . The hood should be removed when shooting with the minimum focusing distance in the angular position.

Designed to minimize flare and ghosting

In order to avoid flare and ghosting, which reduce image quality, this optic is designed to cope with all incident light conditions thanks to tests carried out with state-of-the-art simulation technology. Nanoporous (NPC) and Super Multi-Layer (SMC) coatings from SIGMA contribute to this, that reduce the flashes and the ghosting effect to a minimum. Resistance to strong backlighting allows for clear, crisp images under any light condition.

Minimum focus breathing

This lens has been designed to suppress focus breathing. This drastically reduces the variation in the angle of view that usually occurs when changing focus throughout the zoom range, leading to a natural change in focus during video recording

More portable and with more features

The body of the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art is approximately 7% smaller and 10% lighter than the previous model, and also offers improved handling thanks to the inclusion of an aperture ring and two AFL buttons. Despite the reduction in size and the greater number of functions, this objective remains true to the excellent build quality that has become a hallmark of  SIGMA. A robust construction that lives up to the expectations of a professional photo tool.

Highly portable

Although the number of optical elements is the same as in the previous model, the barrel length has been reduced thanks to the advanced optical design used. In addition, a more efficient mechanical design has made it possible to obtain a more portable body with a maximum diameter and length of 87.8 and 120.2 millimeters, respectively, and a weight of 745 grams (data from the L-Mount version).

Excellent build quality

With the efforts always made to reduce the size and weight of the set without compromising its quality, metal parts have been used for the extension of the zoom and other elements and a robust internal structure that guarantees its rigidity during use (handling for example the ring, pressing the buttons and transporting the lens). The resulting design emphasizes the durability and reliability of this optic as a tool, qualities that are unattainable when you are only looking to create a compact and lightweight body.

With aperture ring

The diaphragm control ring, as well as the lock and click override switches during rotation, provide optimal handling for a wide variety of shooting situations. Equipped with two AFL buttons, the lens has two AFL buttons (one more than the original model) to which various functions can be assigned via the menu of a compatible camera. In addition to a button designed to shoot in a horizontal position, another has been added that makes it easier to use when the camera is oriented vertically.

High-speed autofocus and other features for the most demanding

In addition to the high-speed AF with HLA (High-response Linear Actuator ) motor, the SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art includes a full range of professional features , such as the splash and dustproof structure, the water and grease coating of the front lens and the zoom lock switch. This lens delivers the best possible results in any shooting situation.

*The structure is designed to be splash and dust resistant, but the lens should not be put in contact with large amounts of water. Water penetration inside the lens can cause irreparable damage.

HLA linear motor

The SIGMA 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art incorporates an HLA linear motor for the autofocus actuator. This high-performance HLA motor makes the maximum drive speed more than three times faster than in the original model, ensuring highly responsive AF.

Weatherproof

In addition to a dust- and splash-proof structure, the front element of the lens features a coating against water and grease, allowing you to shoot worry-free in a variety of environments.

Zoom lock at the angle position

The lens is equipped with a switch to lock the zoom in the angular position and prevent the barrel from accidentally extending under its own weight. It can not only be unlocked with the switch, but also by manually zooming in, providing more flexible handling for situations where a snappy response speed is required.

Petal-type parasol with lock

The lens is supplied with a petal-type lens hood that has a locking mechanism to secure its attachment.

Heavy-duty high-precision brass bayonet

The brass frame combines high precision with robust construction. Its treated surface and improved strength contribute to the exceptional durability of this optic.
