SIGMA has once again written a new page in the history of the photographic industry with the announcement of the new 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art, the first full-frame zoom to offer a constant F1.8 aperture across the entire focal range.

Versatility with exceptional optical performance

The new SIGMA lens combines the versatility of a wide-angle to standard focal length zoom with performance comparable to that of a prime lens.

The effective distribution of 5 SLD elements and another 3 aspherical elements in the optical scheme has allowed to drastically correct the aberrations in this zoom.

Axial chromatic aberration, particularly visible in large-aperture lenses, has been completely suppressed, allowing for incredibly sharp images with minimal coloration from the focal plane to wide, smooth bokeh.

Ideal for filmmakers

The constant aperture of F1.8, a weight that is below one kilo (950 grams in the SONY E version), the internal zoom mechanism (which keeps the barrel length unchanged with minimal oscillation of its center of gravity), the suppression of focus breathing and the click override switch of the aperture ring make this SIGMA 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | An ideal lens for videographers and for use in gimbal setups.

In addition, there is the high-speed focus with HLA linear motor, which provides high responsiveness and quiet operation, and the minimum focusing distance of 30 centimeters, which remains constant throughout the focal range and offers a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the 45-millimeter end.

On the other hand, to provide precise and smooth manual focusing, this lens has a double cable system driven by the focus ring, with optimal torque adjustment and an adjustable angle of rotation ranging from 90 to 720 degrees (only in the L-Mount version and always on compatible cameras). This allows filmmakers to focus with organic smoothness and photographers to do so with amazing precision.

Robust and highly portable

Despite the full range of features it offers, the new lens is highly portable, with dimensions of 87.8 x 153.4 millimeters (in the SONY E version) and a filter diameter of 82 millimeters. 

Like the rest of the lenses in the Art range, the SIGMA 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art stands out for its robust and resistant construction sealed against dust and splashes, and with a coating on the front lens to repel dirt and grease.

Located on the side and superior of the barrel, two configurable AFL buttons make it easy to operate the equipment in both horizontal and vertical firing positions.
