Positioned as a workhorse lens among SONY E-mount full-frame mirrorless systems, the SIGMA 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art is a versatile wide-angle to vertical zoom that is characterized by its constant maximum aperture of f/2.8. The bright design adapts to work in the available lighting conditions and also provides greater control over depth of field. The optical design incorporates a number of aspherical and low-dispersion elements that greatly reduce a variety of aberrations to achieve high sharpness, greater clarity, and improved color accuracy. Super multilayer and nanoporous coatings have also been applied to improve contrast and color reproduction by suppressing lens flare and ghosting when working in bright lighting conditions.

Complementing the optical attributes, this lens also has a stepper AF motor, which produces fast, accurate and remarkably quiet autofocus performance. At the wider end of the zoom range, a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.9 suits working with foreground subjects and an 11-sheet diaphragm contributes to pleasant bokeh quality. In addition, a weather-sealed design benefits when working in harsh environmental conditions.

• The standard zoom is designed for full-frame SONY E-mount mirrorless cameras, however, it can also be used with APS-C format models, where it will provide an equivalent focal length range of 36-105mm.
• The constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 is suitable for working in available light conditions and also provides greater control over depth of field when using shallow depth of field techniques.
• Six low dispersion F elements (FLD) and two special low dispersion elements (SLD) significantly reduce chromatic aberrations and color stripes throughout the zoom range to improve clarity and color accuracy.
• Three aspherical elements control spherical aberrations and distortion for greater sharpness and accurate representation.
• Supermulticapa coatings and nanopores have been applied to the lens elements to minimize lens flare and ghosting and help produce neutral, contrast-rich color images, even under backlit conditions.
• The integrated stepper motor performs fast and quiet autofocus, which is complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance.
• At the wide-angle end of the zoom range, a minimum focusing distance of 7.1" is possible with a maximum magnification of 1:2.9 to suit working with foreground subjects. At the end of the telephoto, the minimum focusing distance is 1.25' with a maximum magnification of 1:4.5.
• The built-in AF-L button can be programmed to adjust various shooting settings and the lens also features a dedicated AF/MF switch and a zoom lock switch to prevent the barrel from accidentally spreading.
• The rounded 11-leaf diaphragm contributes to a pleasant bokeh quality.
• The brass bayonet offers greater mounting accuracy and rigidity and rubber sealing is built into the bracket design to make it dust and splash resistant.
