It allows for more capture expressions with the inclusion of the S-LOG3 and S-CINETONE image profiles that define a new era of SONY's Cinema line cameras. It also includes 5-axis stabilization in the body with Active Mode, which makes it ideal for hand shots. The FE 135mm f/1.8 GM SONY, prized for its ability to isolate focus, is a medium telephoto device characterized by its bright and sophisticated design. The maximum aperture of f/1.8 excels in low-light conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field for working with selective focusing techniques. The advanced optical design incorporates two extra-low dispersion elements, including a Super ED element, to reduce chromatic aberrations and an XA (extreme aspherical) element, which significantly controls spherical aberrations for a high degree of image sharpness and clarity. In addition, a Nano AR coating has been applied to limit the ghosting effect and lens flare to increase contrast and color fidelity when working in bright lighting conditions.

Complementing the optical assets, this lens is also notable for its inclusion of an 11-blade circular diaphragm to produce smooth, smooth-edged bokeh with selective focus images. To control focus, an XD linear motor system is employed that is fast and quiet, and also provides more responsive control for manual focus operation.
