With a wide focal length range and a constant aperture of f/4 in a compact form factor, the SONY E PZ 18-110mm f/4 G OSS lens offers videographers and filmmakers a versatile lens option for light operations. While the lens may seem small, it has professional features to back it up. The focal length range of 18-110 m ranges from moderately wide to narrow viewing angles. SONY 's built-in smooth motion optics take advantage of the lens's internal mechanics to minimize focus breathing, shifting focus, and other anomalies that would otherwise be noticeable when adjusting the lens during recording.
The lens body has separate focus, zoom, and iris rings for complete manual control. Simply pull the focus ring back and full-time manual focus will be activated. The focus ring itself has a built-in standard cinema gear for tracking-focus compatibility. Zoom functionality can be operated both manually and electronically. The zoom ring is mechanically connected to the lens, so shock zooms can be achieved without delay. The operation of the iris can be done automatically, or by rotating the iris ring. By disabling the iris click switch, manual iris adjustments can be done without problems.
For smaller, less robust cameras, a quick-release tripod foot is included. The foot is secured towards the back of the lens for tripod use. Alternatively, a conventional lens holder can be placed near the front of the lens for compatibility with rod-based lens holders. The filter thread will accept round filters of 95 mm in diameter and the lens cap included. A sunshade is also included to minimize flare. The closed hood design can be closed when the camera is not in use.
